I was always told the angle of the dangle is directionaly proportionate to the heat of the meat? Now I am really confused!! :(

I don't mind the long camera shots, plus I also reckon we should have more onboard camera angles.

My pet hate is there are far too many shots of wives/girlfriends/fathers/celebrities/hanger ons staring up at monitors in the garage when there is great action happening out on track.

Legitimate concession to the non-hard-core F1 fans - the fan base needs to be big, even expand or else...

I agree with the pit footage, and I hate the way they have to show every pit stop no matter who the backmarker is,

they will cut away from a battle to look at a tail enders pitstop

First post on this forum.

I think some of the thing with the "long" F1 camera angles may come from more general trends within TV broadcasting.

Look at other big sporting events (6 Nations rugby, any football match) and you'll see a 'wide' viewpoint used for many angles. Look too at other major public events (e.g. Trooping the Colour, Queen's Birthday flypast) and you'll see directors always have a preference of showing the "big picture" (cut in with other, closer angles obviously). The idea is about telling a story of the occasion.

Maybe this is what has resulted in many of the "wide" angles used in F1, or things like pit-stops. The director wants to tell the "big picture" of what's happening.

I dunno, I'm not an expert in this by any means or involved in broadcasting - but knowing a bit about it through courses I've done in the past makes me think this is what is at play.
