regardless of what GM are planning on doing in the future this is still a concept car. strictly from a design perspective :D

Yah it's mainly just to show to the world market that they are still a player and should not be cast aside. Now imo if they actually wanted to resurrect the awesome Stringray they should present a car that is true to the originals demension's and original styling but with all this era's build, safety and emission's qualitys/requirements.

The overall idea of the Stingray Concept was to incorporate past design cues in a fully futuristic shape. Speaking specifically about the Corvette concept, Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Global Design, said, "By giving my creative team the freedom to design no-holds-barred vision concepts, it helps them push boundaries and look at projects from different perspectives."

GM call it a concept :hehe:

No doubt they did. They built the car for the movie but with because GM was lacking anything to display at the Detriot Autoshow, LA Autoshow, International Autoshow, Tokyo Autoshow, they decided to use this car as a way to gain publicity for the company. Wether its a "concept" is based on opinions, but the one thing you are dead wrong is this is not the "new stinray"

so its not a Concept and now its not a Stingray, are you saying that its maybe from another dimension?

so for you a concept car is only real if it ends up being put into production? thats hilarious theres been so many concept cars that never see the production light of day and even when being penned know this yet still use the concept terminology.

on a side note i did not expect to be arguing over English terms when i posted this thread

I think you are missing my point and you are making it more then it is. That "Stingray" was built in the USA so its been featured on many US tv shows, my point is this, this car was built for a movie because GM needed one more car so they don't have much product showcase. Since the car was already used for filming, instead of destroying it, GM decided to use it as an opportunity to put the company back on the map in a positive light since they went into red ink, so yes they decided to call it a "concept" but every US publications/tv has already done this story to death about the origin of the car, so we will play it your way  its a concept and its the 2012 Stingray

build a Bridge mate  How many concept cars get built without EVER being put into production??? GM Holden come up with concept cars nearly yearly at the Melbourne and Adelaide motorshows. Last year they had the Holden VE Coupe 60 which is a coupe varient of the VE Commodore. Ponitiac G8 They also a few years before brought back a Torona TT concept a local legend from the 70's and 80's to date these concepts have never been built but no one EVER questioned or made a fuss about them being called a concept. Youre the first ive EVER come across
A concept is just that... a concept not a final design so again get over it!
I study Graphic design and getting the final product involves creating concepts... the term concept therefore is fitting for this car as you say it probably wont be put into production as its not a final design.

EVER :hehe:

Bud, when you argue for the sake of argument, its really dump. What are you drinking down under mate?? Yes we all know what a concept car is, most concept cars has never gone into production, yes a concept car is a intrepertation of what the designer wants in a future model but most don't see the light of day and if they do they don't really resamble what the concept is (example GM Volt). Your point is the same is mine, but I was trying to point out that this car wasn't built with a purpose to be a concept and then run all the internation autoshow circuits, Rick Wagner didn't go to this engineers and said "built me a concept stingray", Dreamworks came to GM and said "we need one more car for the movie", so the car was built for the movie. Lke I said before, and its documented in CarDriver, MotorTrend,AutoWeek, etc.. the car was to be destroyed after its final shot on film but GM's PR decided it will be to use it for positive publicity. Your qoute "its a new Stingray FFS ", so everything a movie studio built a car for a movie, that's a concept car? if so then let it be. Would I attempt to debate you about the Holden or the Commodore, no because its made in Austrialia and you have all the news about it. But I guessed since its a GM and its an American car, one lone guy down under knows more about it then the American automotive publications and tv. :nono:

youre a bloody w***er mate... listen to yourself would ya!! one lone guy calls a concept a concept and you have a whinge about it! i think you need to get a f***ing life and find bigger things to nit pick at!!!
