I've been waiting for this to happen (no, not in the "I hate Ron" way) for a while now. I think it's time that Whitmarsh is given his chance as I think that he will make a great team principal.

I'm quite surprised Ron has stepped back this early, I knew it wouldn't be long before he stood back and let Whitmarsh take-over, but I would have thought it would be at the end of this coming season.

Why were many McLaren fans (and others) happy to see JT leave? Probably similar reasons - they didn't like him for one reason or the other.

True, in the sense that McLaren fans didn't like Todt for one reason or other, but Dennis is not Todt.

I disliked the way RD summarily dismissed Michael Andretti, Even though Michael Andretti clearly wasn't good enough for F1. I think he made a lot of miscues in 2007 too. Those are marks on his resume he can't escape, but overall I think he was good for F1, mosly during the 80s.

I'd like it if he got down to business giving us a new road going car. The SLR is getting a little long in the tooth and nothing... nothing to date IMHO has touched the Mclaren F1 for supercar. Veyron and Konessegg are close and Ascari as well, so I want him to put a stamp on next gen supercar. To me its like Lockheed Martins SR71 blackbird... Almost 50yrs old and nothing (that we know of) can touch it...

However this F2 (not bad) but,...is not the one:
