I thought the first minute or two were good, but after that it was pretty cringeworthy. What I want to know is why they showed a cameo of the interview when Schumacher cried after equaling Senna's tally of wins?

Possibly to illustrate the fact that they were there to cover history being made? Maybe not the best clip to do that with, but it did serve that purpose quite well. It's what I thought of when I saw it.

For me, the placing of it was completely wrong. Had the video have just been cameos of old footage, it might have been fine, but it was preceded by a couple of minutes of silly antics and a 'Place Commercial Here' still and then followed by more miming. It didn't capture the history very well at all, in my view.

I think the BBC did a better job of saying goodbye to their coverage.

yeh weird we left BBC in 1996 when Hill became Champion and we come back to BBC and Leave ITV as Hamilton Becomes champion.

When BBC started their Grand Prix programme, Hunt became champion. Perhaps when they start broadcasting Formula One next season we'll see another champion from Britain (preferably a fellow driving a McLaren). :hehe:

I think it was quite a clever bit of editing actually they were taking the piss out of themselves by putting the "place ad here" sign on. they know it was an issue of their coverage and so by placing such a serious and memorable clip in the "ad break" it showed they have a sense of humour.

I don't care how funny ITV think it is there is nothing amusing about missing a combined total of 37 hours of GP action. But I guess they have to pay the bills somehow

Again, I don't disagree, but I think it was poorly placed with Schumacher crying or they should have put footage of his car crossing the line.

Random Hotties?

The best bit is Brundle and Blundell - esp Mark with the rapping stuff on.

Also I for one think it was tasteful to put Schumacher crying in there - it was quite a high point in ITV's coverage. :hehe:
Esp in the dark ages.
