It's the silly comparisons which he comes out which annoy me...just make syou think wtf?!
like what he was rambling on about Anthony Hamilton "pacing up and down like an expectant father in the hospital...."
what?!lol.
As for next year - DC did an interview on Radio 2 a couple of months ago which very much pointed at him being heavily involved with the bbc for the F1, possibly even commentry....(he'll have to stop swearing so much first...!)

And stop the sour grapes!

I never really understood what all the fuss was about, he seemed ok to me. He mentioned Lewis in the same breath as Senna and all hell was unleashed on him. Folk make me laugh. I actually find Blundell far more annoying.

I agree that James Allen is not as bad as people make out - but I find Blundell annoying because of his awful abuse of the english language...

Mark Blundell was OK especially when explaining the technical side of the sport. It is hard for me to judge because I have no one to compare them to I have only ever watched F1 on ITV.

Anyone notice that he had a crush on Fernando Alonso? that is until Hamilton came along

Saying that Alonso is the best all round driver in F1 today isn't "having a crush on him" it's a statement of fact.

Thing is with Allen,

The Knowledge about F1, is there...The basic understanding on tactic's is there so he can interpretative what the teams are doing, going to or might do.

Hes reasonably good at commenting this for the viewer, not as good as walker but hes not bad. But he tends to go off on a tangent too much and start talking about something random related to F1 but not related to the race.

He also compares other drivers to past drivers too much and isn't independent enough.

Trust me Lewis has got a looong way to go if he wants to be better than Fernando. If they were in the same car he would trounce him

Well, to be honest, there isn't really anybody to compare Blundell and Brundle to. When the BBC were hosting the races, you didn't get any technical features etc. For me, some of their pre-race features were pretty good and it's the area they progressed Formula One coverage most.

If it had been just that I'd agree. But James just couldn't contain his surpurlatives in 05/06 when it came to ol Unibrow.
Anyway, he didn't stand up for his man during Elmono's McLaren antics ... love is so fickle. Can't blame him though.

All in all though the commentry is pretty fantastic, if a little bias if you not in the UK. I'm glad Brundle is sticking around,
esp since the FIA want to cap his comments

Yeh i would love to see that, if only Alonso had been at Mclaren when Lewis trounced that team mate he had, i forget his name but was a 2x Spanish World Champion he would of shown him right?

I don't know if you were watching 2007 season but on the 1st race of his 1st season he took him on the 1st corner.

Oh wait that was Alonso.

Get over yourself. Trounced would imply a thorough beating (Alonso vs. Piquet this year, for example) not taking the higher placing on countback.

I'd say trounced based on the Fact Hamilton was a rookie and Alonso was a 2x WDC
