As long as Roger Federer wins a gold medal in the tennis, I'll be very happy. :)

Agreed!

If Italy win the gold medal in football I'll be happy. They started off well by beating Honduras 3-0.

The problem for Italy is that they won't have Leo Messi in their team.

London in 2012 is a complete farce. Very little money is being invested in grass roots sport and there's no evidence to suggest the people in Britain are suddenly going to aspire to be athletes just because the Olympics are being held in London and the national team win a few medals (probably fewer than we are expected to - once again - despite God knows how many millions of tax payers' money being given to fund their personal goals). Further, why do we have to waste billions and billions of pounds on the misguided premise that the Olympics encourages people interested in sports? Why not spent a tiny fraction of that cash on improving sporting facilities, funding grass roots sport etc. As for today, China's opening ceremony looked great, perhaps the best one ever. What a very nice PR piece for their dictatorial regime and thriving economy. I wonder how many thousands of people the communist party forcefully evicted from their homes to build the so-called Bird's Nest and other venues etc.?

The only event I have ever had the slightest interest in at the Olympics is the weight lifting. I consider this man to be the best as I grewup watching him compete, he was a true gentleman and competitor, RIP Vasiliy :( .

RIP? :yikes: I didn't hear that he died?!?

Yeah me too I like to watch everything even if my country isnt doing well in that sport. Hey Han, I'm watching the olympics right now and I cant understand why they are riding a horse in like this rectangular area, and they're getting points for it for bouncing around. I dont really understand whats going on.

Ah you watching the Dressage ? Footage ain't even on on BBC until between 11 and 4 here, I got rowing on currently
They give them points on the horses balance, willingness, Suppleness- no stiffness, Accuracy on its paces etc and the riders position etc, they have to learn a test and do different things at different markers, they may have to do a collected canter to say Marker A, then change into a Extendion Canter down the longside to C and then say have to ride a Half-pass up the Diagonal was H-F. Then they may spot at a invisible marker and do a Pirouette, its a very hard movement, it looks like this

Well I'm sorry but that has to be the most boring thing to watch lol. Atleast in the other thingy they jump over logs and little rivers, but watching a horse trotting around is uhh kinda boring :wink:

Admittingly it does get a bit boring after a while as they all do the same test, even though I love Dressage. Just you wait till the Cross Country and SJ :D
