Nakajima has been the best rookie easily. Bourdais has impressed me and I have taken a liking to him, I hope he eventually gets round to having the edge over Vettel again like he had at the start of the year.

I hope they give Bourdais another year. With the new aero regs and slicks next year, maybe he will do better because they will handle like Champ Cars?

I hope they do, Bourdais himself believes he will do better with slicks and wider cars. I remember Damon Hill saying he thought he did better with those kind of cars and didn't like the current spec cars. If Bourdais loses his F1 drive - just because he got out-paced by the man referred to as "the next Schumacher" by some - then that would be a massive shame.

Just voiceing my opinion and hasn't the Renault also underperformed?

Yeah, and what has Alonso been doing with it? Scoring points regularly and getting the maximum out of it, whilst Piquet has been flying off the circuit and going as slow as an old Footwork Arrows!

hopefully np will pick up his game a bit

In the last two Grands Prix he's started to show what he can do. It's early days yet, but things are looking up.

I think most people doubted Nakajima because, despite his rather exciting pace in Brazil at the end of last year, he ran down one of his pit crew. An easy mistake to make in your first race, I guess. I think that Nakajima and Rosberg will be a great pairing that will do Williams well over the next few years. If they can provide a good car then they will see big results.

If Williams can fix their not-so-good aero they might have a race-winner. But fortunately next year a lot of the aerodynamic junk is being thrown out of the window and the emphasis is being put back on mechanical grip, something the Williams cars in recent years have a phenominal amount of. In Monaco Q2 Rosberg was just 1 tenth slower than Massa's fastest time and finished the session 2nd. So next season could well play into their hands nicely.

A lot of people thought Nakajima would crash a lot for the following reasons;

1. He's Japanese - a stereotypical view of Japanese F1 drivers crashing a lot.
2. Nakajima's father Satoru used to crash a lot.
3. He had the odd big crash in GP2 last year.
4. He mowed down his pit crew in Brazil.
5. People think he was only taken on because of his Toyota connection - which is partly true, but Sir Frank also took him on because he has a good eye for talent. So the Toyota deal is just a bonus.
6. He's a rookie.

All in all he's doing a solid job and has been getting better as the year goes by. If Williams do managed to make a great car next year Kazuki could well re-write a few records in the books.

Ahhhh, I couldn't understand why Williams was being so publicly nice to Max Mosely.

New rule changes mean Williams will be quick again...

You're entitled to your opinion, but I just find it astounding that you think Piquet's done a better job all year than Nakajima.

I do agree that Nakajima has done I great job so far this year and yes your right I was basing my opinion on Piquets last two race's which is probably unfair.

My vote would go to either Nakajima or Glock. Both have impressed me this season so far.

He reminds me of Heidfeld in some respects - usually very quiet during the races, but often ending up in a strong position by the end.

Glock has started to gain form and points, not much more to say about him really. Bourdais has hardly set the world alight, but he does have the worst car out of the rookies this year. Piquet did well in France but the rest of the time.... :hehe:

Canada before his brake-discs started to disintegrate? Britain before he aquaplaned?

He was running well at both those races (and Spain to, though not as good). His move on Alonso at the British GP was a proper and legitimate overtaking move, not just driving past a mistake as it was in France. Seeing as people like Raikkonen, Button, Heidfeld and Kovalainen also had problems with the conditions (and all of them have driven a few good wet races) it's unfair to expect Piquet, in only his ninth F1 race, to be able to handle them to the same extent as the more experienced drivers.

That's all very well, but really his poor performances and mistakes far outweigh his good moments, and given the fact that he has probably the best car out of the rookies, it's very hard to be impressed with him so far.

Current Points:

K. Nakajima 8
S. Vettel 5
T. Glock 5
S. Bourdais 2
N. Piquet 2

At the halfway point of the season they all still have a shot.

At what? Beating Fisi? :P:D

If you thought I was referring to the Championship, uh no, just Rookie of the Year. In that case, none have a shot. but they are beating out some veterans like Jenson Button???

Well, Piquet certainly gained a lot more respect from me today.
