Yeah, Hermann put in a good word to Bernie and voila - we have a GP at Donnington. I can't say I like one track or the other better, we'll see how it goes.

Is is true that Donington will have to be extended because it needs to be of a minimum of 1 minutes 20 seconds-lap wise? Only other track like that is Monaco.

Yeah, it's nearly a mile shorter than Silverstone - i don't know about the 1m20 thing though, they're going faster than that this weekend, and at France times were 1m15 odd!! However, i would completely expect track alterations, the track is so thin compared to modern tracks - it even looked thin in 1993.

Back to the matter at hand before we all lose our jaws on the floor, does anyone actually believe Donington can pull this off? In 2 years? On that budget? Bear in mind, basically everything needs redoing, might as well build a new bloody track somewhere with decent infrastructure.

They damn well better after all the turmoil that this situation has caused. I also think that Bernie will make sure it happen's.

Shanghai cost US$317.073 million and they had to start from scratch. So, I don't think Donnington's budget is too far off since they can use most of the current track and just expand it a bit and change a few things.

It will be interesting to see if they can pull off the planning permissions in time to do what they need to do, you never know if one of their neighbours will oppose any expansion plans i have a feeling that F1 will be returning to silverstone after next year
