"Raikkonen, Hamilton, Alonso and Kubica," he said, when asked to list F1's best drivers, "and Massa close to them."

Yup, that's pretty much it. Not NECESSARILLY in that order, but close enough
Finally Massa getn' some lovin'

It sounded to me like he was an after thought, which is of course true.

I will put up $100 internet dollars to get in on that wager!! :hehe:
I would absolutely love to see Massa take the WDC title and no not just because he is a Ferrari driver only because I like him.

Lets face it Williams arnt the best team in the aero dept, so i have a feeling that next year they should climb up the grid.
I wouldnt write patrick head off he will still have some important input into the new car and has a lot of experiance with cars that rely more on mechanical grip than aero grip.
Rosberg will be in a Williams next season

If he wins the title, my views on him won't change. Your abilities don't suddenly improve because you've won a few races or a title. I've nothing against Massa, he's a decent man, and has done a hell of a lot of work to improve his consistency at the wheel of a Formula One car, but he's not in the same class as, say, Raikkonen (when he puts his mind to it) or Alonso.

From F1 Live:

BMW Sauber is in 'intensive talks' with GP2 driver Bruno Senna about a Formula One role for the Brazilian in 2009, according to reports.

The German magazine Sport Bild claims that Senna, the 24-year-old nephew of the late triple world champion, could become a test or even a full race driver for the Hinwil-based squad next year.

Senna, second overall in the 2008 GP2 standings, won a race at the prestigious Monaco venue last month.

His quest to go all the way to Formula One is backed by his uncle's friend and former McLaren team-mate Gerhard Berger, who today co-owns the Toro Rosso team.

"I will help Bruno, and his family who looks out for his career, to do it. His development is obvious, and there is no doubt he has talent," the Austrian said.

Sport Bild claims that Berger discussed Senna at Magny Cours with BMW Sauber boss Mario Theissen, his former colleague as joint BMW Motorsport Director.

An insider confirmed: "Senna is determined to get a test and then BMW will decide."

The magazine also said Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Williams may be interested in Senna.

Bruno Senna, meanwhile, is personally backed by Santander, the Spanish bank that also sponsors McLaren.

For now, he is staying focused on his current task.

"I must continue to push and win races and podiums. Then I can dream a little bit more," Senna said.

From F1 Live:

BMW Sauber team boss Mario Theissen has dismissed suggestions that the German squad is contemplating replacing the struggling Nick Heidfeld sooner rather than later.

Heidfeld is believed to have a contract for the 2009 season, but his difficulty in keeping up with Robert Kubica this year has thrown his future into doubt.

He finished a miserable 13th in the French Grand Prix at the weekend, but as to rumours of a seat switch before the end of the season, Theissen said that is ‘currently not an issue’.

Waiting anxiously in the wings, however, is the ever-present test and reserve driver Christian Klien, who was asked by motorline.cc to comment on Heidfeld's predicament.

"If your team-mate is always faster in qualifying than you, then it is obvious that there is a certain amount of pressure. But he has certainly not forgotten how to drive and I am sure he will get a grip on it.
"

Theissen said the driver decision for 2009 is some way off yet. "We will decide in the summer, probably in the second half of August," he said. "But it could also happen sooner or later.

"The situation is not easy for Nick because he must try to get at the same level as Robert, but at the moment he (Kubica) is quick in every situation."

Theissen said of Heidfeld: "We have given him much support over the past weeks."

I am very happy that Dr. Mario is backing and supporting Nick in these trying time's I think he deserve's it. You know I'm wondering why Nick has had such a bad run of luck as of late, could it be that Robert is just more naturally gifted at setting up his car or can relay the issue's more easily in term's that the engineer's understand?

If I remember correctly, last year Willy Rampf said something about that. He said that Robert better understood how the car works and was able to give more valuable pointers to the engineers, that's why I think he spends more time behind the wheel in tests than Nick. But I don't think that is the issue, because last year Nick was better than Robert; it's maybe just this year's car suits Robert better.
Nick's form is inconsistent, he had good races (Australia, Canada) and IMO only two bad races (Spain, France). He's been on the podium twice so it's not a catastrophic season for him yet. His only problem is qualifying for now. Dropping him in the middle of the season is out of the question, and although Nick may force Mario to think very hard about 2009, I don't think he'll go, unless the rest of the season will be much worse than it is now.

I have full faith in that Nick will progress but if he does not get the race results that Robert has had he can contribute to the WCC race and at this point I see BMW beating McLaren for the number two spot. I dont honestly think Nicks job is on the line atleast at this point or for '09.

We are not even halfway through this season and '09, with all the rule and reg changes, is looking to be one of the best seasons in quite along time.

In Spain he fell victim to the stupid safety car rule.

Right, I forgot that. So it's one bad race and on the very track that BMW did not shine at all. :)

Rosberg wont leave Williams. Williams is putting a lot of their resources into developing next years car, and with the new aero regs the Williams FW31 might be a winner or hopefully contest for podiums. However if Williams doesnt improve next year or the year after, then its time to move on.

NR has a contractual obligation to Williams until the end of 2009.

Absolutely, Nico is contracted to 2009 and Sir Frank told McLaren to keep their hands off him too. The FW30's turned into a great car the past 2 races with Nico tagging along with the Ferraris, McLarens and BMW's. Sam Michael has also said that the FW31 is already being worked on as well. And with next year's regulations turning cars pretty much back into pre-1998 spec, Williams can call on the designs of cars like the FW14, 15, 18 and 19.

I would like to see Williams competative again, simply because I like them. My only gripe is when Williams are competative, they never seem to fight with anyone. They either nail it and sail off into the sunset for the afternoon or come 4th. There's never any in between with them and that makes boring racing...
