I understand the point your trying to make austin62 and I would have no problem at all with drug testing.

I would have no problem at all with testing drugs

I almost added to my post "I cant believe I said that since I used to be the Mikey, from the LIFE cereal commercial's, character when it came to testing substance's ! Yet it's funny how mental clarity and clean living change's your outlook on illegal issue's. Now when I come to DD's Dungeon all bet's are off!! :D

Well I suppose they could take stuff to keep them even more concentrated than normal, or maybe something that will improve their reactions even more?

Well I wasn't talking about just simple drugs .In my mind was high end drugs Brain enhancement substances .I would gladly explain more about it .Debate is around brain enhancement drugs

yeah, more or less nerve stimulants... i wouldn't be surpised if the teams already tests their drivers or personnel for the hardcore stuff, as for the FIA, i dont think there has been the need; nerve enhancement drugs have known side effects, so exposing a driver in extreme physical conditions and who needs extreme concentration and risk assessment ability to said "side effects" would not be the best.

To use your example: if you're taking a school exam and pop a "clever" pill... well, you're not sustaining 3G's at 40+ ºC all while deciding if a certain move could kill you.

I imagine the type of drugs that would benefit a driver are those that allow them to train for longer to build up their stamina, which is, of course, essential for sitting in a Formula 1 car and taking those kind of forces regularly.

This is a bit like that Race against Racism stuff. It's in other sports and just because of that, we assume it's in ours based on virtually no evidence.

The FIA I'm pretty sure does randomly screen for drugs. The reason you don't hear about it is this is F1 - not Baseball or cycling or horse racing or even football - none of the drivers seem to be doing anything untoward in the drugs department.

Its not even about wether the drugs will help performance, as was pointed out smoking dope aint gonna make you drive faster and championships have been stripped for that, im not sure if anyone else remebers but there were allegations of cocaine use a few years ago, no it wouldnt help them driving but these guys are heroes to a lot of kids and the last thing we want is F1 drivers using any drug recreational or not.
I doubt its happening but with the sort of money that is flowing through the sport with the age of some of the drivers it would be easy to fall to temptation, so drug testing should be done if not already.

I agree with this, some good points.
