Wonder if the BBC will use the same tunes for the "grid line up" from the highlights shows which was (when I found out unbelievably) taken from the Neverending Story Soundtrack, or the techno style tune from 1993 onwards? They might sound a bit out of date now, but what else they gonna use? :P

Will they use the chain?

The new Gladiators didn't use the classic theme :(... which would have made it so much better... cause the new versions duff

The new Gladiators is terrible! They don't even look right. I'm not intimidated by any of them :P

Wolf used to give me nightmares...

I no, but I read that there having a New Glads V Classic Glads special and likes of Wolf is returning... now that's worth watching.

We're straying off topic lol

It's alright, but the costumes are a bit lame. Mind you it's very hard to beat original versions of game shows, especially when what made it so special is taken away.

Dodgy hairstyles and the '80s/'90s-esque look that everybody recognises? :P

Yeah that's the one, and it was a great track at tht. I seen the GP masters went there for their first race a few years ago, the track was alot poorer than it was in the past.

As for the BBC, someone on the pistonheads forum is saying James Allen isnt going to the bbc next year. Something about overhearing Louise Goodman on a flight home or something...

believe it at ur peril.. :P

Hmm. It sounds promising and, lets be honest, James Allen is hated by just about everybody who watches ITV's coverage, so would be foolish to employ him.

I started to despise him when he named his son Enzo, then proceeded to say a few races later 'Oh look at the Ferrari, it's umpalumpa on four wheels'...

I mean please, if you are on somebody's payroll at least be a little more tactful about it...

I agree too, I don't HATE Allen, I think he's better than some of the crap Football commentators I've heard over the years, but he doesn't half know how to make a fool of himself. I bet ITV will keep him on for Football matches, it would be interesting to hear what he would say during matches.

F1-live: Martin Brundle, the former Grand Prix driver, looks set to keep his job as a popular television commentator next year, when the BBC takes over from Britain's current broadcaster, ITV.

According to speculation in the Monaco paddock, however, the other members of the ITV team - including James Allen, Mark Blundell, Louise Goodman and Steve Rider - are unlikely to also make the switch.

David Coulthard is hot favourite to take over Blundell's role as special paddock analyst, but the veteran Scot would clearly prefer to renew his racing deal with Red Bull.

Hm, OR DC could grow some tits and follow his obsession Louise in her footsteps.

I'm glad to see that Brundle looks set to keep his job. He is a down to earth, informative and doesn't blow his own trumpet. I can't say I'll shed any tears about not seeing the others. Coulthard, whilst be experienced and pretty decent driver is a bit of a gurn; I'm not sure I could listen to incessant moaning about how tough the drivers have it.

I think everybody would want to avoid being interviewed by him if he did that.

Louise Goodman is signed to Honda Racing F1.com, so she's a lock for a no-show in the Beeb's coverage.

Murray Walker may have got excited and made mistakes, but he never came out with the utterly ridiculous comments that Allen does, such as comparing Lewis Hamilton to Ayrton Senna. Nor was Walker completely blinkered about his personal favourite drivers and British drivers as Allen is. I don't mind passion and the odd mistake - we're all human - but I do mind having to listen to British trumpet blowing. As a country we should be proud to see Hamilton doing well, but the desperation and deification surrounding Hamilton is cringeworthy. Hopefully the BBC will get in somebody who can provide an impartial analysis of the race.

And it didn't take long for James to do that today, less than a minute into the commentary and out came the Hamilton/Senna comparisons.

Speaking of Murray, back at the end of the 1992 British GP when Mansell-Mania was at its peak again, on the run down lap Murray talks about Damon Hill finishing his first race - finishing last in the slowly dying Brabham team - as well as Brundle's podium and Mansell's win.

Proof if you ever needed it. Since Hamilton did well in the 2007 Australian Grand Prix, Button and Coulthard were thrown on the scrapheap and Davidson barely got mentioned. In tennis, too, as soon as Andy Murray got pretty far in his rookie Wimbledon, Henman was forgotten about. I don't think that is very fair, particularly saying as Coulthard, Button and Davidson have knocked their pan in and done great jobs with the equipment they've been given, and, certainly in Coulthard's case, have given the sport a fair amount.
