Vettel is a spoilt little brat, given the best equipment from day 1 hes no schumacher
i dislike shumacher but in the beginning of his career he made 2nd rate equipment look good
vettel is just an arrogant little prick

I can see positive things in Seb, but even leaving aside his "personality traits" I'd point out the he was driving for Torro Rosso in 07 & 08 and managed a win in that car. I personally wouldn't characterize the STR2 or STR3 as even being close to F1's "best equipment" during those years.

Which is what I was just about to say. And even if that win lucky, think about how he regularly would finish 4th, 5th or 6th, and nearly got on the podium at Japan with only a few races under his belt.

Hamilton always had the best machinery. Vettel worked with what was literally a Blue Minardi, and won. And finished very highly when he wasn't winning.

I think he's just unlucky this year, and also some of his inexperience is starting to show, because he seems to be like a puppy that can't contain it's excitement and pees because of it. Soon this will come naturally to him. But his results in my opinion are better than any Schumacher, Senna and Hamilton. And really his qualifying is absolutely impressive.

Once he gets the right machinery, and a level head, I can see him winning 12 out of 13 GPs like Schumacher in '04.

People on this site accuse me of having an unusual love for Vettel - but I cannot fathom why everyone is quick to dismiss him. He can overtake, this Red Bull just doesn't allow him to. Driving in the Torro Rosso - I'm sure he definitely learned how to overtake. :nono:

So can someone explain to me, why am I wrong?

 !

Vettel given the best equipment from day 1?

I bumped this thread because I thought it was interesting that back in 2006 everyone here thought very highly of him - even making excuses for him after his accident at Fuji. I thought I'd go back in time and work out what was the source of everyone's hate.

hehe
I'd say winning wins you more enemies than losing. Its a similar case with Hamilton, coming in at a very young age, obviously they're bound to do some stuff people will bug them for.... i guess its ok.

But Vettel is very good, he's really quick and has a good mindset. The rest will come with time and experience.

No but it was the same car as the main Redbull team.

Mind you, they werent exactly setting the track alight. I think Newey came in at the end of 05 or early 06 but only got into his stride in 09. Thats when redbull got a competitive car.

Neither STR nor Redbull were setting the track alight. Vettel won in the wet with the same car as the Redbull team but with a more powerful engine at a track that was all about speed. Impressive yes but god like no.

I support Vettel a bit but i'll admit, hes no driving god and though that drive was fantastic, and i guess, comparable to SOME of Schumi's but certainly not god like.

"Impressive" works for me guys!

Most of his drives that year were impressive though. As were a lot of his drives last year. This year he is having a bad run though...

The "new Shumi"
God-like
Good

If we're grading Vettel then, at this point in time I'd say

Nuvolari & perhaps Fangio in the "God-like"
Shumi, Ayrton and Jim Clark one rung under "God-like" on the same ladder.
Kubi and Vettel are candidates for the "new Shumi"
Vettel is under the gods and not yet the new Shumi, but, with the potential to climb. Don't know where he will end up.

You forgot a certain person, quick, put him in before your comment gets labeled as absurd.

Well, the thread is about Seb - and I was responding to his comparison to greats from the past - so, that's why Fernando isn't there. If there's a thread about how good Fernando is, I'll be happy to give my opinion :-)

lol - there goes that positive thread then. :hehe:

Nowadays you all absolutely despise him. Where did it all go wrong?

Heck even the media hate him - I don't understand what everyone's problem is?

I see, your archaeological endeavor yielded some adverse results - it's like with the Egyptian mummies, ya know? Just leave them in their tombs or the curse will get ya and you die...
