I'm very tempted to downgrade back to Windows XP.

Go for it...I bought a new PC for work a couple of months back and I made sure it came pre-installed with XP rather than any of that nasty Vista malarkey

I think I will, but I won't be able to do it until the summer because I rely heavily on my laptop from September to June. It will cost around £100, but given that I have at least that value in software which does not work, and that value again in software which has been made so slow, I'd say it will be worth paying!

whoa, with that size screen do you ever move it, mine has a 17 inch and its awkward but doable

i love my xps, it blows most other laptops away, and its pretty, and tough, it survived a fall down 10 wooden stairs with a wall at t he bottom which it hit, it was on and ended up with only a small scratch

getting rid of vista so i can hopefully play crysis reasonably vista takes so much and gives little,

i didnt like the mac book air cause of the huge screen border one of my hates, i generlly think macs give looks while PCs give more performance

Intel Macs run Windows (incl. Vista) faster than PCs!
Not that I ever would run Windoze :P

the core components just seem slow on paper, laptop macs that is, and they seem way over priced

Games don't work well on macs do they?

Mac runs windows faster than PCs do because they have the better components. Price-wise they're not that much more expensive because they come with everything you need and then some (e.g., great free software that is usable and user friendly). By the time you added/upgraded the stuff you need/want to your windoze machine, you'll have spent a few hundred bucks more than the Mac would have cost you.

And since Macs (the Intel ones) run Windoze, they run your games as fast as your PC does if not better.

I'm tempted by that new Mac, so small you can put it in an envelope - not that I'd want to post it. :D

Well I exchanged the HDX the otherday for a Macbook Pro :D and I have to say Im pretty much taken by what I have seen with OSX. Im getting into film making now and this combined with Final Cut and Shake is a VERY powerful tool.

Why? so I could end up like you? HA HA HA!

I cant believe it, not more then 4 days after I bought the MBP they come out with the next version. At first I thought about exchanging it just cause Im obsessed with performance. But really the only thing that appeals to me was the upgraded graphics card, the larger HD really means nothing cause its the same rpm and Im upgrading to a 10-15k anyway (screw SSD, too expensive and I want something that spins really really fast), and the upgraded CPU is only very slightly faster. Would you exchange it?

it is dells over clockable core 2 @2.86ghz with a 512mbb 7950 gtx, currently better than the 8xxx laptop series
