Depends which characteristics of Maverick you're talking about. I guess Hamilton is the best at what he does, like Cruise in the movie. However, I find Cruise an annoying little twit, which could also apply to Maverick's character in the movie, so then I would have to say Alonso as far as that went.

The only characteristic of Iceman Kimi has is the cool demeanor and that's pretty much where it ends - for those who've seen the film you'll also remember Iceman was a bit of an arse whose desperation to succeed/be the best led to Goose's death. I wouldn't say anyone has the characteristics of Maverick really. Or any of them. It's a good 80's film however :)

Maybe the Iceman also because Finland is very cold?
so maybe an alternative Nickname could have been the 'Polar bear' but he isnt that fat.....

"Iceman" suits him on many levels of meaning. I must admit I like Brundle's "Alfonso" too... I missed that one.

DanIno, I vote for your number 3
But I got another one!
"Iceman" because he doesn't slip in his own floor! ha ha ha.
Remember Iceman of the X-men?
And he is FAST, isn't he?
Cheers. :D

Oh for goodness sake Texasmr2, you live in Texas, presumably you've seen one or two horses in your time. A horse will typically "rear up" when it is startled, frightened or defending itself. In fact a horse in these circumstances will adopt the pose of the Ferrari insignia. That is a simple fact of life and your "rolling eyes" are not likely to change it anytime in the foreseeable future. A prancing horse, known "piaffe" in international dressage terminology will at no time adopt the "frightened" stance. Ask anyone who knows more than diddly-squat about horses.

I see no  or LOL after your reply, which would presume it was all in fun, but you presume me to be a 'mind reader' as to your meaning, here ya go  ! FYI my  was not in defense of Ferrari, although once again you are looking for the smallest indication that I am, it's true so save you long reply, it was made in the context that it was just another 'meanigless post'!

Sad very sad  , LOL!

You're dissembling Texas.

What is that post supposed to indicate Texas? And that is the complete unabridged quote. A considered opinion perhaps? What was the message you intended to convey? Certainly not "LOL". As far I can see, and likely anyone else, it was a limp attempt to discredit my previous post. Rather similar in fact to your floppy wristed response regarding my buying beach front property in Arizona on another thread. Stick to chickens, leave horses alone, you might get hurt. In the same vein, stick to picking fights with women.

Oh, and by the way, the reason that there was not a LOL or a LaLa or a DooDahDay after my original post to the effect that the insignia looked like a frightened horse, which it demonstrably does, was that my post was not frivolous. My point, although obviously lost on your sensibilities, was that Ferrari are scared of seriously competitive situations.
