The move away from the BBC to Channel 4, allied to a campaign where local hero Lewis Hamilton endured his fair share of frustrations, have been cited as the two factors that have contributed to the decline.

So let me get this straight, a British driver who won more races than any other driver throughout the season and was in contention for the title all the way to the final corner of the final race was a factor in falling TV viewers in Britain? That makes total sense... :rolleyes:

Since F1's move to Pay TV at the start of this decade, global figures have dropped by more than 130 million.

The latest figures will act as a wake-up call to F1's new owners Liberty Media, who are determined to lift fan interest in F1 and deliver bigger audiences in the future.

However, it has stated many times that it believes having Pay TV channels remains a priority for driving income, rather than abandoning them for the greater audiences possible with free-to-air TV.

:censored::banghead::nono::irked:

The facts are crystal clear, putting things behind a paywall means less interest from people. But most people know this already.

Will we see a McLaren/Ferrari? :yikes::twisted:

I somehow don't think so, however, they might rebadge a Ferrari PU as some pretentious name...

Let's face it, even a 2016 spec Ferrari PU will be infinitely better than what Honda have brought to the table.

I do like the idea of having the Alfa Romeo marque back in F1.

Maybe Audi could return with McLaren... MCLAREN/AUDI has a nice ring to it!

Ferrari looking better so far with their new car. Which is reason for renewed hope for F1. :thumbup:

However this pic taken today in the Barcelona paddock gives reason to fear another repeat season:
