- 10 Feb 15, 16:13#432836Theres a big difference in a driver who has shown massive potential over a season or 2 and those that have actually delivered on the potential, in different teams, good and bad cars and despatched every teammate, WDC or rookie. This is the difference between class and form.
Kyviat, Ricc and Bottas have all shown form, Alonso and Hamilton have shown permanent CLASS, with Lewis obviously edging Alonso on account of beating him as teammates, and having superior results in half the time.
Now when comparing a new potential star who has shown great form and potential, it is ok to rank them above an established driver who has also shown the same form but have never shown the permanent class, why? because with the established star class doesnt show up after 10 years of patchy form, whereas with the new potential driver showing form, class cannot yet be ruled out
So kyviat, Bottas and Ricc who have shown form and potential, can be placed tentatively ahead of those like Seb who have also shown potential and form but have been around long enough to confirm that they dont have the class that brings permanent form that only Alonso and Lewis have, Lewis ofcourse more so than Alonso
Therefore Kyviat is at least as good as Kimi, Seb, but potentially also has the class that sets drivers apart and normally takes a few years to manifest, except the 'stratospherics' like Lewis and Senna who do things in their rookie year that only class does.
This also means Ricc is possibly got 1 more year to move from the 'potential' or 'Newey' to permanent class like the top 2. In fact if Ricc is spanked by Kyviat this year (and within RBR Kyviat is said to be faster) or the car is not a stand out and his 'eyecatching' form from last year vanishes like Sebs........
