Ross the guy who's famous for outwitting the governing body, ends up running the body? That's a fairy tale in my book.

If my Highschool German is not too rusty, I think this says, whichever circuit Bernie buys, will get to host Germany's F1 race, the other well, we will soon have an Austrian GP.

Don't we already have an Austrian GP now, at the Red Bull/A1 Ring? I hope those plans aren't altered...

Or Ross to take over from Bernie. That would make an amazing book. Starts as a low level machinist end up running the sport.

I have to admit, that's where I thought he was headed.
Do we have confirmation as to what Brawn has decided?

It's hard reading his mind at the moment, ever since he said he was going fishing, decide in 6 months, the mental telepathy that he uses to keep us forum members upto date on his decisions is not working

yeah, didnt work. I highly suspect Ross was being honest when he said he would communicate his decision when he has made it and is ready to communicate it

Maybe. The guy is an old fox, probably one of the most intelligent guys in the paddock. But he's not coming back to F1 to become Ron Dennis' 'yesman' he wants to be boss. Probably hoped that Dennis was happy in his place and when McLaren come to their senses they'd call him up, but they went for Ron.

Brawn is probably just playing the wait and see game (maybe buyout Lotus and win a Championship this year lol) or he was just seriously missing his fishing rod. We can never know.

Maybe Whitmarsh could replace Bernie, he could do what he did at McLaren and bring a new laid back and relaxed management culture :D

I thought a straight Ecclestone thread would be useful, since he's always giving us so much to talk about.

Here's my most recent.

Bernie has scheduled the US GP for the same day as the NASCAR sprint cup. And I have to agree with the American guy in this article..why?

I know it's a different audience in the main , but Motorsport fans will generally watch other series if the opportunity arises. Not a good way to win US fans

On the other hand it could mean that the prospects for F1 in the US are so fragile that the race would get more viewers just by happening when racing is at the forefront, and might struggle to raise viewers and interest as a stand alone motoring event.

Maybe more viewers will flip channels or take more interest in the breaks

Just like when a big film about say Vampires is released and there are suddenly a few others released by different studios at the same time to try leverage on the publicity etc

I would be surprised if this was the exact reason, but one would think Bernie and his advisors have thought things through

Could it mean that Ecclestone is trying to undermine the USGP? :yikes:

((Don't particularly buy that; but, you just never know!!))
