In a very roundabout way my name is derived from a chicken's call. I'll explain later when I have more time if somebody wants me to

I want you to.

I used to drive around the forests of Wales like an idiot in my Mitsubishi Evo V. One of my mates who was more cultured said I turned up like the Jabberwocky (It is a Lewis Carroll poem) and it just stuck. The bit my mate quoted at the time I have Bolded.

"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

Brilliant, your friend I mean. Well Lewis Carroll as well of course.

"Operaman", not a reference to that strange Italian form of musical production where very large individuals rant and cry about betrayal, lost love, or perhaps inferior carbonara sauce. Nor is it a reference to that wonderful Adam Sandler character on SNL. The Opera in question is in fact a bicycle frame I special ordered from the Pinarello factory in Treviso. It was then built up with selected components by Antonio Pavan in Toronto, and at just under 18 pounds (fully equipped) it is possibly the lightest steel framed bike ever made.

That's actually a pretty interesting reason to choose a name also, nice bike!

...I'll start by saying RyRy is because pretty much everyone calls me Ry (family and normal friends) or RyRy (Girly friends who I'm good friends with / hots over me ^_^ haha)

Is that ""ReeRee"" or ""RiiRii""?

It's RiiRii, the only other reason people call me RyRy is when they want something like if I'm on skype to someone "RyRy wanna cam up?" -_- lol

Mine is pretty boring, actually!!

sagi = my zodiac sign of sagittarius
58 = my year of birth (1958)

That's not boring, it's clever although I'm sure on a lot of sites Sagi58 is taken?

Next thread should be "PICS of yourself!"... :D

Hammer was a nickname from high school tennis team and kinda stuck with me since then, 278 is my birth date.

Ha, there are pictures of me in the picture thread but I'm camera shy among other things so no more from me xD

I assume because you hit the ball hard/fast?

My username is obviously split into three parts:
Lew: My name is Lewis

Eng: I come from England

Bridewell: This is one of my favourite areas of London. It has housed the church of St. Bride for hundreds of years, and was home to Bridewell Palace (former residence of King Henry VIII, which then famously became a prison and poorhouse). Bridewell gaol was demolished and is now home to the Bridewell Theatre.

Indeed the first two parts were obvious but the third part I didn't know of/why.

I think mines self explanatory. I like racing and I'm a chick

Yeah yours is pretty easy  and  for racing chicks! :P

Mine is originally from my days of tearing up tracks as part of a 911 club. Flat 6 is ofcourse the engine that you get to know and love really well unless you could afford a mechanic on call
Cookin works in 2 ways - cookin as in not overheating turbo and also as a play on my name
It then became my username on early petrolhead sites and has stayed a decade later

I assumed cookin was a tweaking/building term, either way interesting name and reason (

its from my kraut surname.

Kraut is German right?

This is basically a no-brainer. This is my real name

Yeah, if someone couldn't understand that one they've got a problem :S

My surname.

Ooo, I didn't realise that :O

In a very roundabout way my name is derived from a chicken's call. I'll explain later when I have more time if somebody wants me to

Oh yes we definitely want to know why, this sounds like a good one :D

an STD bout.

Nasty nasty nasty xD

You might be able to tell the reason for this topic was because of your name :P

No.....the theory put fwd by my teammate (a senior and the one who started it) being a hammer is a blunt but effective tool. I was not one of 'skilled' players in the team but won most my matches by stamina and nearly always having to come from behind to win. All you dirty minded ones out there back the f**k off.......

Well, as your team pointed out - you are a winner :wavey:

Actually I was a fairly handy tennis player myself, don't like to brag, but neither Borg nor McEnroe ever took a set off me :D
