rehashing the name Williams Renault did not work too well for them

It worked for the first season, Williams had a bit of a revival in 2012... and would have had a better 2013 system if they didn't insist on sticking with the coanda exhaust.

The one they had at pre season put them near the top of the time sheets, then it got banned abs they never recovered.

The thing is that, that exhaust style was the one to have. So at what point do you give up with it?

At the 1/3rd season point in my view, if it's not working after seven races, it's probably not going to work!

I've said it before and I'm going to say it again - Williams made a mistake in 2013 by dropping Senna and keeping Maldonado. When you look back at their 2012 results, yes Maldonado took 14 points more, but if it wasn't for that win in Spain - his season was simply terrible.

Maldonado - 45 points, yet only scored in 5 / 20 races (25%).

Senna - 31 points, but scored in 10 / 20 races (50%) - not forgetting that he was in the points when Schumacher crashed into him from behind in Spain.

The 2013 car was never a race capable of winning (obviously), so a one off win such as in 2012, embelishing the overall points for the team and driver wouldn't have happened last year, but I can't help but wonder if Senna might have dragged a couple of points finishes out of it more than Maldonado could. Personally I think he would have done a better job than Maldonado last year. I'm wondering if toward the end of last season in the last 5 or 6 races, Williams might have been thinking the same...

I see your point. Though I must disagree somewhat. I know maldonado was in contention for top 5 twice more in 2012 but crashed out or some such (valencia comes to mind in his collision with hamilton two laps before the end of the race, and australia where he crashed on the last lap) so he definitely had a level of consistency in that car, even though the points don't necessarily reflect that. That's where I'm hoping he can be groomed more at lotus, like grosjean was

Maybe Maldo needs to grow a faux-beard like the Roman

I agree with Zurich about Bruno.
My hope is that Maldo does not kill someone. Not without James Hunt around to publicly chastise him for it.

Bruno was indeed much more consistent, and was very much capable of bringing the car home in the points, if it was capable.

Maldonado, while dreadfully inconsistent (and with a questionable personality alongside) can, on occasions, come out with showings of speed which are quite astonishing.

Here she is, the championship winning car

That blue reminds me of the Prost team. Much prefer the blue and white during BMW days.
