Are they an advertiser in F1 then?
EDIT: In advertising in general, I agree, and that works. But, for me, just slapping a name on the side of the car makes me no more aware of a product than I already am. If I don't recognise a company, from the name then I just become blind to it and am totally unaware of them. Point in case above - I had to Google them. Now I recognise them as a Williams sponsor, but I had no idea who they were or what they did.
It's less that adverts make you want to immediately go out and buy something, it's more brand awareness; like how when I was unemployed the first employment agency I could think of was Ranstad.
