Should drivers have complete control of ERS use?

My view is that if it can not be controlled directly by the driver to defend/attack; then just ditch the whole ERS device and create a 750bhp V6T instead. But my view on these artificial aids is not positive, so these comments are hardly unexpected.

Does anyone have any thoughts or views on the discrepancies we are going to see? EG If a Marussia has full ERS being delivered and a Merc has none at that point? That would be very weird.

Does Luca have a point that it will be very hard to understand without well thought out graphics for viewers (what about those at the track)?

I think if a car flys by another it will be pretty obvious and easy to understand why without graphics.

Because it makes it greener and more to relevant to what car manufacturers want.

They also want 18 inch tires used since that would be more relevant to road cars but you don't see the FiA twisting themselves up in a knot to provide that. The single dumbest think on an F1 car ATM in my opinion.

Non balloon tyres would need a massive redesign. Think of the extra suspension travel that would be needed. I do agree that it is old fashioned

Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport (allegedly); who wants to watch road relevant race cars drive in circles?... I know that I don't!

I am not saying an F1 will become a road car, I am saying that if technology learnt from F1 is watered down to help road cars to become greener that is a good thing

No simply because as a six second KERS burst driver control works well, but this would be having your finger on the ERS button for 10 or more seconds a lap which is too distracting surely?

I think there are also arguments for survivability, if a KERS unit is overheating now; they tell the driver to use them less, but with ERS they are going to have to turn it off completely or constantly be switching it off and on again.

You're right there.....and if they do have to switch it off the loss of performance will be disastrous.

Seemed to be just Red Bull, and in particular Mark Webber. Suppose how the engines and cooling units are packaged in the different chassis' will play a big part in whether overheating will be experienced or not.

Was it all Renaults or just Red bull?

All, remember the Issue Lotus had with Romain retiring the the same Magneti Marelli alternator issue that the Red Bull car had? Was it Valencia?

The excuse was that Webber was slightly taller, therefore he was blocking 2 vents that are only just above Seb's head, limiting cooling. Which makes sense and removes their "We built the cars for both drivers" excuse.
