Four provinces do not mark Remembrance Day as a statutory holiday, as it is business as usual after noon ET, but some want all of Canada to honour Nov. 11.
NDP MP Dan Harris introduced a private member’s bill on Monday urging Nov. 11 to be marked as a national holiday.
The date is a statutory holiday for federal workers, and all three territories and six provinces — Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, P.E.I., Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C. — mark the day each year.
Only Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Manitoba do not.
There is normally a smaller parade on the 11th at cenotaph...
