Good news, wonder if the changes'll attract anyone else, would be good to see Toyota coming back in this capacity too.

Yeah, better than trying to run their own team - they miserably sook at that. :banghead:

I always had a soft spot for Toyota

So you're going limp whenever a Prius drives by?

Back on topic; it's good to see Honda making a return, however it doesn't mean a repeat of the success they shared previously, just look at Williams Renault, everyone hailed the Williams/Renault partnership as a new dawn for the Grove based team, didn't work out that way did it? But to be honest I was hoping that McLaren will become a manufacturer team, building their own engines.

Good tactical move for Honda to wait until 2015, they have a whole year to observe with the new rules..

I would say it's probably related more to development time, If Honda have started development this year, they are at least one year behind everyone else!

They will be a year behind in 2015 on track time as well!

Wouldn't that be an advantage, an extra year of development while other manufacturers go racing... aren't the engines going to be frozen after the first race of 2014 like current engines?

I've got the Sir Mix-A-lot lyrics stuck in my mind since yesterday... so your girlfriend drives a Honda playing workout tapes by Fonda

Are they freezing the engines? I would of thought they would have a few years tto iron out the bugs.

The current engine providers have been working towards these regulations for a long time.

I don't know for sure, I remember some time ago hearing that the 1.6V6T's would be frozen like the 2.4 V8's were, but that could have been a dream! :hehe:

Speaking of engines, whatever happened to 'Pure', they announced that they'd be developing engines for F1 and we never heard from them again!

That's impressively bad; seems that any American F1 venture is doomed to fail... guess this is a cautionary tale of arrange your funding and have a full roadmap before announcing your venture!

Ecclestone expects BMW to return

Bernie Ecclestone says he expects BMW to follow Honda in making a return to Formula One.

Last week Honda announced it would return to the sport in 2015 as an engine supplier to McLaren, having quit as a constructor at the end of 2008. BMW similarly pulled out of the sport altogether in 2009 but Ecclestone told City A.M. that he thinks the timing "makes sense" for BMW to a return.

"I would be surprised if we don't see BMW again," Ecclestone said. "I think they could come in. The amount of money they spent was not significant in the grand scheme of things. It makes sense for them to return."

Ecclestone also admitted defeat in trying to prevent the new 1.6-litre turbo engines coming in next season.

"The engines are fixed now like it or not. We have got what we have got so we have to keep our fingers crossed."

OMG OMG OMG. I know it's just Ecclestone's mouth again but this is the first headline I saw when I got out of bed.:pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray:

If they make a comeback and get a couple of decent drivers, it'd be the only thing which would make me stop supporting Merc + Lewis. :P

Ecclestone is expecting them to return under what proof? Because it makes sense?

Hell it makes sense for me to start running a team because I'm aware of what F1 is, doesn't mean I will...

They have been in F1 before, with some success, pulled out at the peak of the economic crises, and their arch rival is in F1 right now grabbing poles but having serious issues during the race.

Their rivalry is awesome in the DTM series though. And those cars are much faster than I thought they were at first, the most recent race at Hockenheim was super.
