Can't blame him for not converting his poles so far though, Button was on song in race 1, McLaren f**ked up his pitstops in Malaysia. He's in a good position in the WDC thus far which counts most. It's a different Lewis we see this year I think, his 2 major criteria for race weekends seem to be 1) Beat teammate, 2) Get good points. Clearly realizes the WDC is there for the taking, making race wins less mandatory.

Wow Hammer, almost verbatim my sentiments in the Malaysia GP thread. :hehe:

I wonder how much progress can be made in the weeks between now and the Chinese GP? There's plenty of time for some head-scratching and spanner tweaking...

Do we think that some teams might arrive at Shanghai with a significantly improved package?

Doubt it that we'll see any major upgrades until the Spanish GP. I remember hearing that given the logistics involved the vast bulk of the teams equpiment and wotnot will be shipped straight to China even though the race is 2 weeks away. Maybe there'll be a few minor tweeks but I can't see there being anything too significant.

I'd imagine that RB/Newey will do a fair bit of head tweaking and spanner scratching between now and China
Same probably for Mercedes.
And Ferrari is pulling the contract option for Sergio Perez out of the Scuderia drawer...

I think Massa will be lucky to get an LMP GT seat with Ferrari after they kick his bum out of F1.

I hope Sergio gets the drive, he deserves it. I just hope he doesn't end up what Irvine / Barrichello / Massa have all been before him......

No one deserves to sit in the 2nd car at Ferrari!

No. Perez certainly has more potential that that.

Martin Whitmarsh said that McLaren will have a few updates by China and thus other teams will as well.

3 weeks is a long time, even in these fly away races. I expect Red Bull to be challenging even harder but when we start the European leg of the season, Red Bull could be winning races. Like McLaren, their development throughout a year is very good.

Stefano Dominicalli (spelt without checking Google so could be wrong) has said that Massa is not moving and brushed off the rumours and speculation about Perez taking his seat.

But he has to say that. ;)

Yes, indeed. I don't expect RBR to be sleeping for long. They could well be onto McLaren soon. Which makes the team's result at Sepang a serious ballache, considering the points that could've been scored from that front row in the dry.

At least the guys who finished first and second aren't likely to be mounting a serious championship challenge.

Yes, he said it today, while celebrating the Ferrari victory - but there are an awful many days until the next GP and an awful many things can happen...

I cannot believe how the season has turned out for Merc so far! :yikes: 1 point after two events is a shocker.

The thing we have to take into account here, is that we've had the season opener, which leaves only a vague idea of specific form, and then a downpour in Sepang. So there's still lots to learn.

idunno, man. Tires continue to be the bane of Merc's existence. Soft, hard, inter, wet... doesn't matter. They just can't get a handle on these pirellis. The fact they haven't over the course of last season AND the off season is not encouraging at all.
