Well, I'm sure they'll start being vocal now the bait has been laid! :hehe:

Its going to be rather boring of they dont.....

My threads are NEVER boring! :nono:

I feel quite a decent and thoughtful discussion has been held so far! Delving into the stats and the history and the relative successes of varying teams always makes for some good chat. :)

This is the general consensus, McLaren and Ferrari are basically the backbone of F1 due to their longevity and success. For Redbull to join the frame, they need to carry on consistently winning races for another 10 years at least.

I considered Williams as part of the Big 3 until they dropped off the cliff....and it seems RB has a great chance of taking their place, if they stayed for a while more yet.

I completely agree about Williams. In the 90s they won more championships than any other team and remained competent until a downward spiral starting from 2004. And I agree about Red Bull with Pedro.

I'm gonna go ahead and say the downward spiral started the second their engine said MECHACHROME on it, and they have struggled to recover to this date, with occasional sparks of promise in that time. BMW was a path to glory but BMW dumped them. Toyota was good for them too. They outraced Toyota with Toyota's motor, until Toyota began to show signs of title potentil only to suddenly vanish, leaving Sir Frank with Cosworth, which is never gonna be a help to anyone.

No my good man, you totally misunderstand. I meant my evening, and not this thread, would be boring. It wasn't though, I watched gadget geeks f1 special. Now im watching a fly on the wall documentary on The London Underground. This inspired me to try to buy an old carriage to set up as a cafe in cornwall. I looked on the internet, but they are pretty impossible to buy. So I gave up and come back here. Yes, Ive been on the Red.

Anyway, that was totally off topic, so please do carry on.....

Happy? :P

Not really. I didn't feel the soul of your post.

Good point. I can never distance myself from McLaren to be a good enough Red Bull fan.

As long as they don't start lobbying the FIA for rule changes every 5 minutes or start to think they deserve to win just 'cos they've been around for a fir while like a certain other team.

I think it's pretty clear RB have had a dream run when it comes to FiA decisions :hehe:

Yep, all of the other teams kept scrutinising Red Bull last year because they thought they could only be that fast by cheating.

HEY! THEY'VE GOT BETTER ENGINE MAPS! NO FAIR!

HEY! THEY'VE GOT A VERY FLEXIBLE FRONT WING! NO FAIR!

And it's already started this year:

HEY! THEY'VE GOT ILLEGAL EXHAUSTS! NO FAIR!

The RB7 was just a phenomenal car. End of. :)

Exactly, the RB7 was the class of the field. Hopefully the RB8 will continue the run of form.

This new Lotus shouldn't really pick up the championship count of the real team from the past. After all the team from Enstones won titles under the Benetton name aswell as Renault and now they're Lotus. Tomorrow they could be Team Barbie!

What? Where did you hear that Nico wants to buy them? :yikes:
#293777
Yeah Nico wants to be team owner driver! :hehe:

To be fair to Redbull they have been involved in the sport since the 90s albeit as sponsors before owning a team outright. It's clear Mateschitz has an interest in F1, I'm sure as long as he is in charge of the company they will have their own F1 team.
