A long time ago when I first began dating my wife, I gave her a swiss army knife as a present. It wasn't the only present, but I took SOOOOO much ribbing for it. Needless to say, 25 years later, she's still got the knife and the other day at a party our host couldn't find a wine bottle opener and tada! Ran out to the car and whipped out the quarter century old swiss army knife.

Sometimes the smaller things turn out to be very meaningful/useful indeed.

Well I've spent my McLaren voucher, so that's some presents to self sorted.

How did you end up with McLaren vouchers? Did you have enough for an MP4-12C?

:hehe: Sadly, I don't have enough for one of the those, no. Only enough for a few things from their online shop. I get them through being part of the team's fan club / membership programme. 8-)

Last year I got one of those massage seat things, it's great. If you've got someone that can do it for you that'll be better though. To add to RCs list of racing related gifts what about some of the track days circuits offer.

I'd personally like a McLaren rocket red victory t shirt. but I have a problem paying $60 for a shirt with sponsorship logos all over it (no McLaren logo in sight, btw). They should be paying ME to wear it.

I have a McLaren rocket red victory shirt. I'm part of the membership programme, and have acquired a plain black McLaren t-shirt and the victory shirt in successive years. I wear one for qualifying, and one for the race! 8-)

The plain black shirt just has one logo, which reads Vodafone McLaren Mercedes. Good times.

I'm part of the membership programme...

what is this?

Help for the clinically insane.

The membership programme is like a fan club for the team, offering discounts on the merchandise in the McLaren shop, competitions, tickets, tours of the factory in Woking and access to the members forum. There are two tiers of membership, one offering more goodies than the other, albeit at a greater price. But the cost of membership is more than made up by the vouchers and discount you receive. :)
