- 05 Oct 11, 14:12#278512That corner coming out of the chicane at Monza has been tarmac like that forever, drivers go wide so they get a better exit. Also it isn't a right hander or downhill.
It was Spa at Rivage that changed this year from gravel to Tarmac (trees, right hander and downhill). Coulthard and Brundle discuss it in Quali when Michael Schumacher crashed there. They may have also discussed it during the race, but I will need to watch it again to be sure.
EDIT: Just re-watched the first few laps of the race at Spa. They do discuss Rivage when Alonso goes wide while battling Massa and Hamilton. Coulthard gives the info and then Brundle chimes in with that before the change "he would have been out".
