The best combo for overtaking is a very fast long flowing corner (eg Eau Rouge at Spa, 130R at Suzuka or Turn 8 at Turkey) followed by a long straight then a wide hairpin or chicane. Tracks such as Monza, Montreal and Melbourne all lack the first part of this equation and so dont tend to have much overtaking occurring. At Monza the tightness of the chicances that makes overtaking tricky as well.

I miss the old sand traps, I really do! They should invent something that wil punish the driver, something to damage the tyres, etc... Monza? MONZA!!! :cloud9:

DRS or no DRS, Monza is one of the greatest and we're set for a cracker.

Hoping McLaren can get BOTH cars to the finish, that would be nice.....

An ideal race for me at Monza would be;

* action-packed
* lots of battling at the front
* a McLaren 1-2
* a great race for Senna
* Williams and Lotus in the points

Then I'll be happy :thumbup:

Alonso vs. the McLarens again this year. The tyre wear, traditionally incredibly low at Monza, is gonna throw a curveball though i think in that it might be a game of who can get the softs to last the longest, as one stoppers will be possible.

Not sure about that mate, why are the races at Valencia so crap if that's true? There's always been loads of overtaking at Montreal too. :confused:

I'm a Red Bull supporter and a somewhat fan of Vettel but your posts infuriate me because although you have every right to a Vettel fan and also have every right to hold bias, you don't really contribute when you just post "Red Bull have upgrades [smiley] [smiley] [smiley]" etc. etc.

Sorry I'm a bit of a lurker and I've had that on my chest for quite a while.

Back on topic, DRS will be interesting here with the low wing angles. As somebody already mentioned, highspeed corner -> straight -> slow corner = overtaking. With DRS after the parabolica we should see some overtakes into turn one, I don't expect as many after the second lesmo to be a result of DRS but rather tyre wear. The first lesmo would be next to impossible with degrading tyres, meaning close running through the second.

We should only really have one DRS zone and it should be after the first chicane, in my opinion. Here's hoping for a good performance from the Mercedes boys too.

Any fan of F1 is welcome and valued amongst this community, regardless of the amount of analytical depth they feel they need to insert into their posts.

As long is it's not stupid or abusive of course, and vlad is none of those.

Holy crap! A Redbull fan being annoyed by vlad's gloating. :hehe:
