If the testing ban was lifted even for 50% I like too think we would see better performances from the new teams. Kind of a shame that new teams are trying to fill the grid ie making a F1 effort but are relegated to no testing. That rule has left alot of great battles by the wayside imo so the teams should not be blamed when starting from scratch imo.

The rules around testing are certainly wrong now, but even more so for new team. In my opinion, any new team should be allowed additional testing days through the year for their first 2 or 3 years.

Maybe not automatically for a new team - there will be anomalies like Brawn. Who knows where they would be now if they had been allowed to continue testing while their major competitors were subject to a testing ban? Possibly a better solution would be to allow teams that fail to qualify under the 107% rule unlimited testing until they get under the bar. After all, it's the only way they're going to manage it unless there's a breakthrough in CFD and simulation.

There is difference between buying out and restructuring an existing team that had a car for the next year mostly designed and the teams who are starting from scratch

New Teams and New Entries are different. Brawn were a New Entry.

Yes, I think a team the fails to make the grid (especially after travelling halfway around the globe) should be allowed unlimited test time between races IMHO. Since they miss a race.. I don't think we would see abuse of the rule.

What makes you think HRT have the money or resources to go Testing?

They could be allowed to test, during the race; test how to put together the friggin car.

You want to let the moving chicanes drive around during the race? Surely the whole point of the 107% rule is to prevent that.

not drive it! put it together... it took them 3 days, gotta bring that time down ;)

OR maybe they can ship it assembled :)

Thank God for the 107 rule, the HRTs looked retarded on track in qualifying. They were just getting in the way and looking pathetic...2 less cars to worry about for the front runners now.

 good to see they want be a issue

but if Vettel dominates, maybe we need the HRT moving chicanes back to slow Seb down :hehe:

If Seb keeps improving the way he has he'll be the only car on the track with the 107% rule :)
