Button's problem is that he's a bit too honest, wears his heart on his sleeve and provides easy ammunition for his detractors.

Never let facts get in the way of an opinion. :hehe:

Well... opinions are based on a variety of factors, one of them being a personal conviction,
another place where facts may not have a "home"! :wavey:

Which I perfectly understand and agree with. It's when said opinions are sold as facts or ignore facts that contradict the opinions where we get into the "dumbfounded" territory.

The climate change argument comes to mind as an example.

Advertising comes to mind where "opinion" is sold as facts! ESPECIALLY those informercials on late night TV!!

But, we digress, eh?? :P

On the contrary. You brought it back to TV ads, just like a certain F1 driver recently did. Bravo!

Poor Mobil 1....they had the luxury of marketing drivers like Mika, Kimi, DC, even JPM, Lewis...and now reduced to this. I always thought of the Mighty McLaren and Mobil 1 as powerful long term partners, but I see this team very differently today. :(

A statistic to ponder on.
Jenson is the second most overtaken driver so far this season. He's been overtaken 48 times. And the driver who has overtaken him the most is his old stable mate Lewis Hamilton, who has overtaken him six times. Other than Lewis , overtakes on Jenson are as follows....

Vettel, Alonso, Grosjean - 5 each

Webber , Di Resta - 4 each

Perez, Raikonen, Rosberg, Massa - 3 each

Sutil, Bottas's, Hulk -2 each

Maldonado -1 time

It's funny with overtaking though. It doesn't always tell the whole picture. It might be that you get overtaken because you're a bit slow, but it might be because you're an ace qualifier and therefore out of position during the race. And if your're always at the very back, you won't get overtaken so much.

I think its due to Button's supreme tyre conserving strategy where he stays out much longer than the others who don't manage tyres as well....so when the cars pit and have new tyres they catch and pass Button who's braving out the tyre wear. So yeah, overtakes don't carry much meaning these days.

This is the Button thread afterall...
