The point is these issues are supposed to be accounted for during manufacturing/QC.
Did you know what the issue with the gearbox was...? No you dont - doesnt always mean a manufacturing defect.
3) I personally do not think ONE gearbox failure constitutes 'unreliability'.

But he may go the rest of the season without any breakdowns, this is my point. I dont think we can call unreliability until there is a pattern or reoccurance. My point is, one malfunction does not constitute reliability problems.

Sucks about lewis, I wonder if they will do anything different with qualifying to save a set of good tires, like get him into Q3 but just go out on used softs or something, then in the race he'll have an extra set ready to go. Then again starting on super used tired would blow. : \

It's interesting isn't it? I think it was Jenson's gearbox that failed, and it was hastily swapped with Lewis' good one. In that way, Jenson's success is preserved, and Lewis is buggered again. I mean, why the hell would McLaren want Lewis to score points? It's not a team championship after all. It's just about Jenson...Lewis is an ornament.

The Brit has made a solid start to the season with back-to-back third place finishes in Australia and Malaysia.
And he has the chance to build on those points at the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend where he has won twice before.
Lauda, who won the drivers’ title three times, believes Red Bull’s reigning champion Sebastian Vettel will still be the man to beat this season.
But he says Hamilton will be a strong competitor, providing he sticks to his word and concentrates on his driving, rather than his celebrity lifestyle off the track.
Lauda said: “We had a boring season last year where Vettel and Red Bull dominated everything, whereas this year I think it will be very exciting.
“The pressure is on the other drivers a lot more than last year because Vettel had a big cushion due to the performance of his car.
“That means everyone has been pushed to catch him and it will be interesting to see who copes with it or who loses it.
“Vettel is the best driver today because he won two championships in a row. He cannot do any better than that.
“He is so good because he keeps his feet on the ground and doesn’t lift off like a lot of other people when they get to this position.
“He is a very balanced person. His head is not disturbed by all this VIP bshitt. He is not disturbed at all.
“Lewis is as good as Sebastian in terms of pure speed and talent but sometimes gets disturbed through his different lifestyle.
“If he gets his head in order again and is not disturbed, then he will be a strong competitor.
"He has a chance of winning this year, for sure. He has talent and if he gets the basics right then he can win it. The big question is whether he disturbs himself.”
Lauda, 63, is also relishing seeing Hamilton’s duel with his McLaren team-mate Jenson Button to see who will come out on top.
The Austrian insists the all-British line-up at the Woking-based team will be one of the most interesting battles all season.
He added: “Jenson was the No2 driver in the team but he has done a perfect job.
“He has stayed stable and improved and improved and today it is interesting to see the battle between him and Lewis because that is the strongest line-up in F1.
“I am looking forward to seeing who finishes with more points. They are both very quick."

NOw if he's suggesting that Hammy needs to focus on the track regardless of family issues and the sorts....I would agree with Niki...but I just smelled a little hippo swimming in that article that's all. No harm.
It's hanging around with a crowd that are going to distract him from the job in hand i.e. winning the championship (which I hope he doesn't so let the distractions continue).
