Vettle's form hasn't changed. He's still the same driver he was in 2011, if you thought he was good then you still do and you can point to certain points this year to back that. If you thought there were questions about his ability or you thought is was due to the car being dominant and suiting him then you still do because there's events you can point to and justify that.

In my opinion, he's shown that he's a sore loser and is struggling having to deal with a competitive team mate and a car that he has to work hard at getting to perform competitively. He is also shown to be the most apt number one driver to throw a tantrum when things don't go his way of any of the other number one drivers.

He's going to be back again this season. At the end of the day, Vettel's positives always outweigh his negatives. Nice - he chucks 2 fits this year, and people think he's got a worse temper than Alonso and Hamilton....

Well since you mention it, he has got a worse temper than Hamilton!
Actually its not temper so much as not handling situations when they don't go his way. Hamilton's perfected the art of remaining cool when things don't go his way....wheel changes, gear boxes, wrong strategies, not enough petrol, Maldonado, etc etc. Not heard him screaming down the radio for the team to "do something!"

Maybe Vettel has the advantage of saying 'do something' and knowing his team would actually try something.....whereas Hamilton might just get a "Long way to go Lewis, let's just stick to Plan D now, blah blah blah"

:D:yes: Or, "Ok Lewis understood" And that's it, nothing else happens. Equanimity born of frustration overload :hehe:

From Webber's car - "Whoa, what just happened?" :D

Gotta love Schumi, always so much action when he's involved!

And here's a nice race edit.

Andrew Benson this morning on twitter:

Doubtless this will cause a stir. Latest #BBCF1 greatest driver, number eight, Sebastian Vettel: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/19487080

A few seconds later:

To those already expressing incredulity re Vettel, all I can say is read the article, carefully, from top to bottom before calling me names!

OK yeah, while I don't wholly approve of ranking drivers from different eras in terms of "greatness", it is a fun topic for many F1 fans, especially newer ones to the sport, and the fact that some extreme fanboys take it so seriously is pretty poor.

Some of them might want to quit the abuse, and educate themselves a little more by reading the article!

The article is fair and a wonderfully complete summery of Vettel's short career, but it didn't justify the position o
for me, I guess he gave it based on potential.

Like Jim Clark and Alberto Ascari before him, Vettel is most comfortable leading from the front. Put him on pole position in a competitive car, give him a lead into the first corner and Vettel is close to unbeatable.

Thank you BBC for risking life and limb to state the obvious.
People complaining you can't rank Vettel because he's never driven in a slower car (Toro Rosso?) always ignore the obvious similarities to Clark, Ascari and to an even bigger extent, Fangio.

Also funny that people complain that Vettel is rated to 2011, and then rate Alonso to 2012, which is by far his best season he's ever had. All drivers have better and worse seasons, and I don't think Vettel 2012 is really any 'worse' than Alonso 07/08/09.

To be fair, though, during Vettel's stay at Toro Rosso, that team was having the best period of their existance. Don't forget Bourdais often scored points and ranked high as well. With the help from Red Bull the team was just doing well. Sure Vettel is a real talent, but he hasn't driven for a true slow team. Not like Alonso or Webber at Minardi or Button at times at BAR/Honda.

I thought Alono was pretty good in 2009, that Renaut was horrible and they stopped developing it early.

I'm not saying he was bad in 2009, he was having a lesser season, like Vettel this year.
The fact that in both cases, they're still putting that car up there (up middle front for Renault, up front for Red Bull) shows why they are greats.

I'm not sure, the Redbull is pretty quick.

Alonso's Renault was sliding its way round and he was keeping it all together.
