I dont get why the talk is now, red bull must favour webber for a hope in securing the title, correct me if im wrong but red bull have had 1-2 on the grid for about 14 races this year? Why is brazil and abu dhabi going to be any different, alonso has iirc a 10 point lead over webber, and if webber finishes 1st and second in the next two, and alonso finishes say second and third, doesnt webber win, this isnt to mention the fact that a mclaren (probably lewis to be fair) could easily get infront of alonso in the next tworace qualifying(s ?) alonso is the most calm guy under pressure ive ever seen in my f1 watching time and the fact that hes coming out in interviews saying tis far from over with only two races left and ten points and momentum on webber shows that he knows he hasnt got an easy ride by any means, even two more podiums might not see him win the title. Just sayin we shouldnt all give up on this years championship, look how quickly lewis was leading and then not, then webber and alonso, infact jenson and vettel too, i think this has to go down to abu dhabi and there are four drivers still in it i think.

How many races has Vettel led this year? Almost all of them. All his mistakes and reliability problems come when he is leading the race. He honestly should have 4 more wins this season. Probably even more than that. Vettel is a better pick to win out of the Red Bulls. Webber is just plain lucky. Webber would be lucky to finish second at both of the remaining races in my honest opinion.

Vettel on the other hand is very unlucky. But he is clearly the better driver, clearly fastest. With Kubica and Hamilton and Rosberg and Schumacher in the mix, Alonso has his work cut out for him to even finish third.

In my opinion Vettel has a better chance to win the championship. He is a safer bet too. And he actually deserves it which may come as a surprise to everyone here. So many pole positions, so many fast laps.... So many races led, he honestly deserves it and has rotten luck. I know we're discussing it elsewhere, but I just think Red Bull would be crazy to throw all their support behind Webber.

And I think it's a better bet that Vettel will win the remaining Grand Prix than Alonso finishing 3rd at both Grand Prixs... Am I crazy?

Please dont derail my on topic post to show support to vettel, the table doesnt lie, with two races left webber has a better chance of winning then vettel. Which was a sub-sub-point of my post, my post was explaining how people shouldnt just assume now that alonsos won it. Not that Vettel hasnt got a chance, just that Alonso is being hailed with two races left as the champion, which isnt a good idea given the nature of the seasons results.

Vettel more likely to win the remaining two races then Alonso to finish third? You are barking IMO mate.

Vettel could be leading the WDC if he hadn't made some of his mistakes, and of course he could be leading it without some reliability issues, but you don't just need a fast car or driver to win a WDC, as he and redbull probably know all too well by now.

Point taken. :P

So to prove it he WILL win the title this year. :wavey:

Well if he does I will not have an issue with it :) . He will imho be a WDC someday but this season with only two races left is looking just a tad iffy.

Good point I'll stop being a troll.

I just like playing Devil's Advocate. (Aka Vettel, Piquet, Kobayashi....)

If the race positions in Abu Dhabi are the same as Brazil, to beat Fernando it will take a team-player gesture by Vettel to move over and let Webber win. But he won't. If Vettel wins in Abu Dhabi and Webber is second then Vettel beats Webber on countback. And that is more important to Vettel than the team claiming both titles. The team will, of course, back him up, explaining that Alonso's engine could have given way which would have meant that Vettel threw away the WDC.

I don't believe this scenario. Vettel will move over. But, probably on the last lap just in case FA's engine gives way. Assuming that SV is first, and MW is second.

Shades of Massa/Hamilton,2008.

Alonso will win WDC regardless if he wins or comes second at Abu Dhabi.

Webber wins WDC if he wins at Abu Dhabi and Alonso comes no better than third.

Vettel wins WDC if he wins Abu Dhabi and Alonso comes no higher than fourth. If Vettel wins and Webber comes second, there would be a points tie and Vettel would win based on the first tiebreaker, number of first place finishes.

Hambone cannot win WDC if Alonso scores a point, if Vettel wins or comes second, or if Webber comes 5th or better.

As for tiebreakers, Alonso has five wins and two 2nds. Vettel and Webber both have have four wins. Webber has four 2nds and Vettel has two.

Skybet still have Alonso the favorite for WDC.

Vettel won the only F1 race yet contested at Abu Dhabi. Webber came second by 17.8 seconds. This season, RBR have come 1-2 on four occasions. Vettel won three of those four.

Vettel was on his way to winning Korea when his engine let go. Except that hiccup, he knows he'd be going to the final round of the championship having won the last three consecutive races. And he's the only driver ever to have won at Abu Dhabi. If Ferrari do not have a stellar weekend, I think stars are aligned for Vettel to win WDC.

Wrong. A fourth place would put FA 2 points ahead of SV. For SV to win, FA is not to place higher than fifth (and then loses based on fewer fourth places compared to SV).

So... Alonso has to split the Bulls.
That's a tough one. He's done it before....

I think Vettel would do a pull over move if needed. They are racing eachother like crazy, but i dont think he'll let another driver claim the WDC if its in his hands. They dont have to do much paper work about it either... pay the $100K and go on with both titles. They deserve it....

Or the Bulls have a engine trouble, the focus has been on Alonso's engines (since he's leading the WDC), isn't Vettel's situation worse?

This will be a test of nerve and luck, if it all works out as normel it'll be Vet-Web-Alo with the redbulls doing a switch, it's down to Alonso to find that extra bit of skill though to try and get second, most probably by jumping a redbull at the start.

Yeah. That's the job to do, much like its been all season. it'll take yet another masterful race... with both RB's needing also a masterful race to win it as well. Either way... whoever wins it in Abu Dhabi will have to deliver impeccable stuff.
