Great win by Webber!

I'm glad i truly accepted that this race was going to suck before it even started, it nicely softened the blow. I guess Button and Schumacher fighting made the second part watchable(ish)... didn't stop me dozing off in parts, i only made it until lap 3 before doing just that and waking up around the time of the stops!

For me, if Button really wants to win this title (given how close it looks like being this season) he needs to get more aggressive when wheel to wheel - i know it's easy in hindsight but just think, he could have made the podium after Vettel's issues if he had done the job on Schumacher (and you just know the likes of Alonso and Hamilton would have got that done).

Hamilton's accident, wow that could have been nasty. Shades of Kovalainen in 2008.

I can't now see how anyone other than a Red Bull is really going to win in Monaco bar another completely crazy race. They have so, so much more downforce than everyone else. Question is, can Mark Webber get some consistency?

are you f***ing KIDDING ME???? 2 laps before the end. I've got nothing to say, he's been unlucky the whole season and this pretty much adds more up to it

Yeah thats racing mate, He should have looked after his tyres better perhaps. atleast he split the Redbulls and cemented the fact McLarens moved 2nd behind the RB's in the pecking order, for now. something to take away for the rest of the season to build on in the development race.

But you gotta hand it to Webber, perfect race and was untouchable even by his own team mate!

It was nothing to do with tyres management , at least get that bit right. Martian Whitmarsh has said that they were monitoring Lewis's tyres and they were okay,it was debris that got into the wheel that caused the puncher, nothing to do with tyres management.

All drivers have bad luck at sometime during the season,it's unfortunate but nothing that he can't bounce back from, still plenty of races to go.

Whitmarsh doesnt think so. His tyres were looked after fine. They were monitoring that.

must have been a failure in the tyre itself then. unfortunate, cannot blame anyone for that.

He hasn't blamed anyone , like he said after,it's racing. :yikes:

Id agree with all that.
I just hope Lewis' driving around Monaco can do something in quali. Will the red Bull advantage be as great there?

I meant you cannot blame Bridgestone or Lewis' driving if its a tyre manufacturing fault.

Well, Brundle kept saying they had so much more grip and could take that quick right hander flat, this track (Barcelona) does require a decent amount of downforce too so for me it's quite ominous... especially considering that they apparently have another upgrade for Monaco (they just mentioned it on the F1 forum).

Stranger things have happened (remember how Toyota suddenly fell all the way to the back row in Monaco last year?) but i honestly can't see it. Praying for rain once again... :hehe:

Never an exciting race but there were a lot of great drives today.

1. Webber was untouchable.
2. Alonso put his car ahead of a Red Bull and two McLarens who were all faster than Ferrari.
3. Vettel drove a car that was quite clearly about to die and still came 3rd.
4. Schumacher outperformed his team mate by some margin and kept the McLaren of Jenson Button behind.
5. Jenson drove the whole race without a dashboard so he couldn't even see his revs or what settings his car was on.
6. Alguersuari put the car in points even with a drive through penalty.
7. Hamilton drove brilliantly with a lovely move on Vettel he managed his tyres well and managed the fastest lap only to be let down at the 2nd to last lap when his Enkei wheel rim failed.

From a McLaren point of view this weekend was very tough but I think McLaren will come back fighting, the car is clearly very fast in the race and maybe second fastest in qualifying.

2. Alonso put his car ahead of a Red Bull (who had mechanical issues) and two McLarens (one of which had a tyre failure and the other had his race seriously compromised by electronic problems) who were all faster than Ferrari.

Fixed that for ya... :)

What i found instresting is that Lewis had to constantly keep requesting flags to be show to lapped drivers.

Bias from the Spanish Marshells perhaps?

Yeah, must be that. There's no other reasonable explaination!

You make your own luck he put his car in the position to take advantage.

Lol at Hamilton.
Schumacher did great.
Lucky Alonso.
Massa needs to buck up fast, he's hurting team points situation.

Why laugh at Hamilton? he was the only one taking it to the red bulls.

I just found the whole situation funny. Here he is the best driver so far this season, and still finished behind Button, and lastly i don't even like him.

 ah well, so much for a couple of exciting races gone by.... there some fights all over the field, so it was not all tragic.
Again, Vettel and Red Bull pay the price for their fragile car, but at least it will make the championship more interesting.

Hamilton lost all those points because he wore the front left tire. There's not much to say there, except that maybe because Alonso was putting up Fastest laps right behind him, he had to push as well and that lead to the wear out puncture. Button didnt have this problem despite him pushing as well, so there's the comparison between the two. Another comparison item is that Jenson couldnt pass Schumacher  but to credit... Michael drove a very good race. He defended very very well and pretty much had good consistent pace. Nico was just demoralised on the weekend.

Good race by Alonso... the crowd went mad. I guess its good for the sport when the home driver gets good results :)
I dont think it was a purely lucky result... more so the reflection of how the F10 behaves in the race vs Q. Fernando made a very clever approach and was able to push hard on Lewis because he had the window to make another pitstop in case he needed it, due to the large gap to Schumacher... in the end the push allowed him to get the good result.

I can't now see how anyone other than a Red Bull is really going to win in Monaco bar another completely crazy race. They have so, so much more downforce than everyone else. Question is, can Mark Webber get some consistency?

hmm not really. Monaco is not a full downforce track... there's some very good chance for Mclaren and maybe Ferrari. Unless Red Bull has a great package only for Monaco. Turkey is another story...... as it is now, it looks to be another Red Bull :whip:
