The Pitlane Walk and Talk this morning was hands down the absolute best buildup format I have ever seen. The BBC has taken Formula One coverage and made it so awesome it beggars belief!

And Mike Gascoyne was brilliant

Yeah. This weekend would seal the deal if I was in charge of the BBC, though I bet MG would rather get back in to a team than work on the F1 show.

True. Hamilton GP :hehe: Na onlykidding. Was a good day for the BEEB. Why not find a job for Mike on a permanant basis. - have EJ AND MG fight for the job

Mike would probably win. He's at the right height to deal EJ a rather painful blow.

I definitely agree the BBC should try to get Gasgoyne on board. I'm still not sure about Legard. He stills sounds as though he's presenting World's Strongest Man rather than Formula One, and his Formula One knowledge is pretty poor.

Indeed. I think James Allen would have been the better choice, to be honest. David Croft does a better job, so I wouldn't mind if he took Legard's role, but there could also be someone better out there that is available.

It's a sign of annoying much of a let down Legard has been that we have actually thought Allen might have been the better choice. If Allen weren't so biased, he would actually have been alright. Croft's knowledge of motorsport, particularly Formula One, is a lot better than Legard's, but I'm not entirely convinced about him either. Nonetheless, I think he's done enough to merit a crack at the whip. Legard can back to the radio.

Yeah Laggard really annoys me like today at the end or the race he went on and on for the whole of the last lap almost shouting.

Dammit I knew you would all come around! James Allen rocks and a worthy successor to Murray Walker. I am starting a petition to get James back in the commentary box for 2010. Can I count on McLaren Fan and Denthul's names to be on it?

Buut I still think that it is too early before we slag Legard off yet. He is only 3 races in and still finding his feet. If we are still having this conversation by Silverstone then my petition will come out

I'll sign the petition if there are no suitable replacements for Legard or if Allen agrees to be much less biased. His commentary at last season's Monaco Grand Prix, for instance, was nothing short of a disgrace.

I second that! Why wasn't EJ on this weekend anyway? I was ecstatic to find he wasn't going to be on :)

I was told he said on an interview with Radio 2 that China "didn't do it for him"

Maybe the BBC "won't do it for him" either and keep MG :D

There is already a huge petition out there to get Allen back in the commentary box. I'll see if I can dig up the link for you.

Yeah. To be fair to him, though, he wasn't so bad pre-2007.
