So they havent announced anything yet?

they have read the post above or check speed's website, videos all over it.

basicly they just said:

We have the monies

We have the buildings + the Wind tunnel.

Were looking for a small team of around 100 people and we will compete in F1 2010

no mention of Honda, mentioned drivers breifly said they wanted a all US driver force or US + 1 Experienced driver for a year.

If & it's a very big if, there was a single organisation anywhere on the planet seriously planning to get into F1 they'd have bought Honda by now - on a buy now, pay later concept if they hadn't got the cash upfront.

If there were 2 serious organisations Torro Rosso would have new owners by now.

I suspect that Williams & concievably Force India would welcome serious financial input in exchange for part ownership.

USF1 is about as real as the returns offered by Bernard Madoff.

As I said previously, I hope they don't buy Honda or Torro Rosso, and just build from the ground up. If they bought Honda, they would be buying Fry and Brawn. What ever you think of the two personally, I'm sure they are quite expensive and the team has a lot of people that would have to be enharitted in order to make it work.

To me I'd rather hire a new relatively small staff and outsource some components instead of trying to take a very large unsuccessful organization and try to pair it down and try to figure out where things went wrong in the first place.

A fresh clean look... Think about it.. Can a championship car and driver be put together for under 50 million year? Can a car be built for less than 1/2 million dollars???

After Torro Rosso's performance last year they are anything but unsuccessful.

& to the poster who hoped the new team wouldn't have some name linked to the country it comes from, what exactly do you think the US in USF1 stands for?

Or were you being sarcastic & I missed it?

Yeah I was thinking more Honda than Torro Rosso who clearly had thier act together last year. But still, Torro Rosso is probably asking top dollar or euro for the sale because of their performance. You have two ends of the spectrum. Honda, and Torro Rosso  both operating in the pre-cost cutting F1 era... Get some fresh blood all the way around and add a team to the grid.

Answer my question Gert. Do you think it could be done for 50 mil??

Better yet - they should have an American flag livery with the head of Obama on the sidepods :jester:

If Obama sponsored it, I'm sure he could generate 50 mill for it. He generated 755 mill for his campainge last year..."Now that F1 you can believe in!!"

Gert, Are you still a non-believer?

Peter Windsor said to effect, gone are the days of 100 million dollar teams with 30million dollar retainers for pilots.
Peter Windsor also said that he hopes Obama is a fan so that the govt. can give them some Stim money for a grand prix

I think I really Nostradamus this one... Everthing I said came to fruition... :yikes:

Marco Andretti and Danica Patrick. Danica will bring a bevy of sponsors as well.

sorry, the more i read about it, the more it turms my stomach.
I hope its a massive flop and they never make the grid...go A1 racing if they want that jingoistic nonsence...it has no place in Formula one.

You know, you're certainly entitled to that opinion but other than that entitlement, this statement is quite wide of the mark :bs: on many levels (IMHO of course). Any true F1 fan should really be applauding the fact that someone's trying to get another team into the sport because the F1 grid has begun to look as small and shrunken as the recently deceased ChampCar grids (or BE himself) had become. Honda just left and they're not coming back. Odds are even that Toyota might leave soon as well. Will Renault be far behind? F1 needs as any serious entries as it can get and these guys seem serious.

Besides, why is Force India OK but USF1 is jingoistic? Would it be all OK if it was Windsor/Anderson racing? Or do you have something against Americans? Just wondering?

here, here... I think I can be a little unbias about the project although I am a US national. I am all for Branson buying Honda. I am all for someone buying Torro Rosso. This team is a start up trying something new that might be able to help F1. I don't believe this to be a strickly US team. Even at the Top you have Peter Windsor, and he gave hints to some European engineers. And they will most likely have some small shoppe in Europe.
