Ron probably had a lot of say in it. Whitmarsh did say his first choice was Perez.

I think Kevin is a lot safer than Button. McLaren's hiring policy under RD; The best drivers out there & special attention to their own YDTP. Kevin is from the latter, though Button doesn't fit the category of the former.

Agreed, its widely reported Martin was over ridden in the decision to keep Perez. Also theres all his whinging about his first choice for Mag being a loan.

And its exactly a Ron type of move, cant be a coincidence that there is someone else brave enough to stick Lewis in as rookie.

I have a 50/50 idea we will see Vandorrne replace Button at some stage during 2014
