I dont think negotiating a better monetary deal is the big issue. I dont think exploiting loopholes is the big issue. The big issue is the nature of the 'general help' bernie mentions and when taken in the context of the numerous events over the years that lead many to nickname the FIA as Ferrari International Assistance, the differentiator becomes clear. Seperate to extra money there has been extra assistance from th sport to help ferrari beat its competitors. - these facts will not go away and cannot be sugar coated

Earlier this month, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo declared that he and the FOTA want more transparency about the revenues in Formula One. Now, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has hit back at di Montezemolo and revealed that Ferrari has always had a special deal with F1 as they are receiving millions more than the other teams.
Ecclestone declared to the British newspaper 'The Times': "The only thing he (di Montezemolo) has not mentioned is the extra money Ferrari get above all the other teams and all the extra things Ferrari have had for years - the 'general help' they are considered to have had in Formula One.

"Ferrari get so much more money than everyone else. They know exactly what they get, they are not that stupid, although they are not that bright, either. They get about $80 million more. When they win the constructors' championship, which they did this year, they got $80 million more than if McLaren had won it."

Ecclestone also revealed the reason for this arrangement. This goes back to 2003 when some F1 teams tried to form a breakaway championship, but the only team who stood up to them was Ferrari. "They were the only team that broke ranks with the other manufacturers - why did they break ranks? That's where the $80 million comes in. We 'bought' Ferrari. We 'bought' Ferrari's loyalty. Our deal with Ferrari was that we 'bought' them so they would not go to the others."

Whats mindboggling is that it would never have come out if Montezemolo hadnt decided to take Bernie on to get even more money and advantage

since then RBR are the favourite son

The point is there shouldn't BE a favourite son or daughter! The FIA are there to be impartial runners of a sport; not side with a team! Could you imagine the world cup if FIFA just decided that England should automatically qualify for the finals because the heritage of foot-to-ball started here?!? And FIFA are almost more corrupt than the FIA!

There's a disturbing link with French bodies of sport and corruption when you think about it....

Actually, what's mind-boggling is that we're ignoring the fact that it takes TWO to tango!!
You're keen on denigrating di Montezemolo/Ferrari, yet ignore the fact that Ecclestone is not the innocent!!
Who's to say he hasn't negotiated the same/more lucrative deals with other teams before Ferrari and since??
If Red Bull is now the "favourite son", who's to say they don't have something already in place?? Who's to say
McLaren didn't have something in place before their fall from grace?? Who's to say that Mercedes got away
with their "illegal tire testing" because they have something in place??

YES!! THIS IS ALL SPECULATION!!

But, then again, isn't that what's keeping us from boredom until the next race?? :D
