I moan to myself, not back on McLaren topic. Button is eying a championship!

He is, which one? Surely not the world drivers or constructors championship, but then again, you never know, Mclaren started well last year and trailed off (points wise), maybe the opposite will happen this season!

Button is already 39 points behind a competitive Red Bull, but long way to go,seems that bud and Cookin had another disagreement which has got them banned, this all lies back to 2012 when McLaren screwed Hamilton numurous times and Button on the odd occasion,I dont really care about McLaren much,I'm happy with how F1 is going, but McLaren are underperforming since JB said it was McLaren ever,oh how wrong he was

I think they have a chance to score decent points in China....very smooth surface and a 3 week break. China will be very telling if we'll see a McLaren resurgence this season. If they suck in China, I'm writing them off for everything, maybe a last minute win in Brazil when half the field gets eliminated by aliens hired by bud.

lol since he's banned I think I can get away with this one

Why do you say they screwed Hamilton and Button? to screw someone, that indicates malice, I don't think that Martin Whitmarsh and Co intended any malice towards their drivers as they are screwing themselves financially and PR wise.

Some pitstops screwed their races, that's for sure, the pitstops are under the McLaren crew and the equipment is probably built by them too

China's still very early in the season though. Take 2004 and 2009 for example, it took them more than 3 races to sort out a "resurgence", as it were. However, if progress can be made by China this year, I'll be very pleased, as a clear step up had already been made by Malaysia. Just a shame about the pit-stop...sigh.... :irked:

My point exactly...what did they achieve in 2004 or 2009? 1 win?

McLarens lead driver is "eyeing the championship" remember. So I'm thinking if McLaren haven't bolted a quadruple diffuser on this car to make it work by the 4th or 5th race, it's game over.

He's hardly going to run round the factory shouting "WE'RE DOOMED! IT'S AL OVER!!!" is he?

Standard PR puff piece.

A former Williams engineer , Mark Gillan, thanks the Mclaren will take a long time to sort out. It's and interesting read, so are some of the comments following the article. Not sure what I think because I dont know enough about about the technology
http://www.jamesallenonf1.com/2013/04/m ... me-to-fix/

And yet Jenson is now positive and eying the championship.

These are some thoughts I've had ..........

McLaren are good at developing through the season, they've done it many a time and finished the season strong, albeit too late and compromised by poor operational decisions, poor strategy decisions and unreliability. Clearly one of their strengths is developing a car through the season. Who leads this? Is it Lowe? Is that why Mercedes want him? Because this is an area Mercedes need to improve. The other side of that coin is who was responsible for this poor Mclaren? I thought it was Lowe, though I've read Goss had his finger prints all over it as well?
So Lowe to Mercedes to head up development through the season? That's sounds good. And Mercedes other guys responsible for the initial design...with input and ideas from Lowe?
Just musing here.....
