Ok guys, I know i get off on this so Im going to post something I found on another forum that sort of asks the questions I was asking but perhaps in a less emotional way. The person whose post im copying is responding to the question that mcLaren may have been being conservative because they were expecting a downpour......

"I did consider that, but unless there was a sudden massive downpour within a few laps those on slicks would easily have made up the time loss of the pitstop and gained time depending on how long it was until it rained. The pitstop time loss in Malaysia is approximately 16.5seconds, those on slicks were around 5 seconds a lap faster than those inters so it would take just over 3 laps to regain the time lost by pitting for slicks.

"I'm sure McLaren would have had their strategy team calculating every conceivable possibility, so having seen the times Ricciardo was putting in McLaren would have calculated what I have above (this refers to a laptime chart) well before they decided to pit Hamilton. So even if they believed it would rain again (which it did, lightly on lap 44 I think) McLaren would have been able to work out pretty quickly that it was faster to pit for new slicks and potentially inters later than staying on worn inters and potentially new inters later.

Every other team must have realised this as Hamilton was the very last car on track to pit for slicks. "

I dont know the answers, but I will ask the questions. Thats it from me on this now...(big sighs of relief all round!!) Onward to China :D

They don't want Hamilton to win. It pains them to see him do well. Anything but Hamilton winning is good for them as long as the car should still be fast enough to bag the WCC and Jenson his 2ns WDC.

Simple as that to me.

Hamilton is forever in a fight... 2007 against Alonso.. 2008 against the FIA... 2009 against Dave Ryan and his dog of a car... 2010 and up to know.. Macca and personal Problems.

They are out to prove to him that he is not all that.. and they will do everything in their power.

WHITMARSH MAY HAVE A PREFERENCE FOR BUTTON BUT MCLAREN ARE NOT SCREWING OVER HAMILTON, STOP WITH THE CONSPIRACY BULLSH*T PLEASE!

Frankly I think a lot of Hamilton fans are looking for an excuse for Lewis not winning races/championships, grasping at straws... why can't it just be that Lewis isn't quick enough for whatever reason or has suffered some bad luck? next I will be hearing that McLaren are giving Lewis a car that has 100bhp less than Jenson... when will it stop?

when will it stop?

Try 'never'?

Just get mmracer to rewrite each year and give Lewis the championships and then do another rewrite to make Jenson win every year. mm's good at that. Problem solved :D

Disagree. I don't think Whitmarsh has a preference over Button either, but he does give that extra 1% probably since Hamilton is known as having McLaren as 'his team'. Whitmarsh seems to try a bit harder to keep Jenson comfortable in the team, but I don't see him as openly 'liking Jenson more' than Lewis. He's openly stated how close he is to Lewis as he's known him for many years and he thinks of McLaren as Lewis' extended family.

So far I think he has been pretty equal with both drivers. However, Lewis has shown his hand in these 2 races, he only likes it when Jenson is behind him and it should be clear to Whitmarsh by now. So I expect a bit more 'cajoling' towards Button for the next couple of races and hopefully Jenson starts getting happy being No.2 (in performance) to Lewis again. :P

Ironic after 2007, what happened to all the pride in McLaren treating their drivers equally, and Hamilton on winning "fair and square"

Anyway, Jenson has always made it very clear to McLaren he wants equal treatment (and McLaren have made a good effort to oblige) whilst Hamilton is in the last year of his contract. I wouldn't be so sure he'll come out winner. McLaren are probably keen to avoid a return to the Hekki years as well.

Hamilton still wants to win fair and square..thats kindov the point.

Jensosn made it clear he wasnt prepared to enter 'Team Hamilton'. But he's on record as saying the way to win the championship is to have a one/two partnership. And he hasnt been backward in setting up 'Team Button'

I'm looking forward to a rewrite of 2011, Vettel wins every race if not for bad luck.

I don't recall Alonso being told to move over for Hamilton or not getting the same equipment...
