Teams: McLaren Jenson Button is not ready to abandon his championship challenge and support McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Button's chances are now incredibly slim as he is fifth in the title chase and 42 points adrift of championship leader Fernando Alonso. Immediately after the race Button said his championship defence was over but he has since changed his mind.
"I don't stand by that now," he told the BBC on Sunday evening. "You don't win world championships by conceding defeat before it is all over. You have seen today how things can change. If mathematically I couldn't win the championship then, yes, I would help Lewis."
Team boss Martin Whitmarsh said he will not issue any team orders but expects Button to help Hamilton, who is 21 points off Alonso, voluntarily.
"For us, the strategy is clear," Whitmarsh is quoted by Auto Motor und Sport. "We don't really have to say anything to our drivers. Jenson will offer his help to Hamilton voluntarily, because he knows that we have treated him fairly throughout the year. And because he knows that he will win now only with a miracle."
Looking at rivals Red Bull, Whitmarsh said that Mark Webber should get preferential treatment over Sebastian Vettel, but is not expecting the team to adopt that strategy.
"Logic dictates that all the eggs are now put in the Webber basket," he said. "But this team's heart beats for Vettel. There has been so much unrest that I am not expecting a clear statement from them."
Red Bull boss Christian Horner is not prepared to support just one driver: "It would be wrong to do that. Our strategy will be to push both drivers."
But he sees the McLaren situation the other way and believes that Button is now out of the running.
"That's a different situation," Horner said. "It's a bit of a no brainer; I mean, there's only 50 points available. But I don't run McLaren, that's their issue, not mine."

HAHA Button thinks he can actually be of 'help' to Hamilton when most of the time he starts behind him in races! This guy should do a standup.
Breaking News:Lewis Hamilton has officially overtaken The Fonz in race wins. With 88 races less. Lol(Without a specially built blown diffuser, illegal front wing, preferential treatment)
