Ah, Mercedes will be fine. I think they are still on for a championship run.

:hehe:

No. Next year maybe, this year no. Defiantly be in the top 5 though, even if they are the 5th.

Yeah. No way that team will win the title this time. I feel if they could "get a grip" with the tyres (as it were), they'd have quite a quick car.

The problem with the tires for Mercedes is TOO MUCH grip, not, not enough grip.

Mercedes' main problem is overheating their rear tyres in hot conditions, but Spain is very hard on tyres anyway,in China Hamilton lost 2 places but in hotter races Mercedes seem to slide much further down the order than normal.

If this is true them Mercedes have a real issue as as the seasons moves on, we tend to see a lot of hotter races in Asia and the Americas!

You're making the assumption that the new compounds won't improve anything, and that Mercedes won't be able to make any progress with the rear tire degradation.

Don't get too happy, Mercedes are not going to sit around and twaddle their thumbs...and also Pirelli are bringing some reasonable tyres from Canada onwards...not to mention most of the races from here on in are European. We go back to Korea somewhere near the end. Singapore is a night race. So its not all doom and gloom as people want it to be.

Changing the tyres will favour Mercedes meaning that they will be up there, it will favour other teams however tyres are the main problem with this years Mercedes

Mercedes just need to sort out tyre temps which is worse at higher temperatures, because overheating just creates thermal degradation and takes away grip too.But new tyres will improve it,but it will still be a small issue.

Why do you make the assumption that I am happy that Mercedes are struggling? I'm simply expressing an opinion, I have nothing against Mercedes at all, but the evidence we see at this time doesn't look good for Mercedes. There's also a good chance that the new compound tyres won't work well for Mercedes either, last years tyres were more hardwearing and Mercedes still struggled, the Merc is a car that inherently destroys tyres!

This year's car is not last year's car that's for sure. After Monaco last year, Mercedes sunk like a plumb, both in Qualifying results and race results. This year the car is likely to continue near the top of Q3 times given what we've seen. The question is whether or not they can make the new compound tires work well enough in race trim.

Both Bahrain and Barcelona were poor for Mercedes last year, and in Monaco, they were very strong. I don't expect anything different this year.

Judging by last year, as Schumacher qualified 1ST, I can see that they are easily going to qualify first or second.

Isn't that an indicator that they might do?
