The other reports posted earlier suggesting he is lucid and other positive things being said about his mental state being normal are the best!

But this bit "He was also able to move his fingers," which is in the post I've given the link for above is the next best news. I don't care if it take a long time, as long as he fully recovers that is what is important.

Indeed good news to get about being able to move his fingers, nerve damage would have been the biggest hurdle after they restored circulation. It's wait and see now for a few days to see how he continues healing and can provide feedback on the tactile properties of his hand.

Exactly, he showed more than just hints of speed and consistency. And at the level he was fighting, there was that something extra that made it remarkable. Its difficult to know who could be capable of doing the same as its almost impossible to replicate the scenario; but from what was seen... it was at least remarkable.

Yup. That's really good news. Its still difficult to know the recovery. But at least Renault have tamed down the expectations by saying he'll be out at least til Barcelona... compared to possibly the whole season, not bad for a hint of optimism. Fingers crossed for the guy, and Renault as well.

Check out how narrow the road is and how many lethal looking obstacles there are right on the edge of the road. Scary stuff really.

I can't see any obvious skids and no wreckage at the last slight right-hander before the crash scene. Racing line would have taken him to the side where the car ended up. The armco looks damaged ahead of where he ended up. Looks like he might have just gone a tiny bit too far to the right, down off the edge into the armco, but the armco dug into the car and spun it around (hence facing the other way). When the car drives ahead and parks you can see some wreckage on the road - a fair way ahead so he must have been motoring when he hit.

Damn that is a tight road. I would be afraid to ride a bicycle through there for gods sake!

Hope Kubi gets better soon, i was really hoping he would have a shot at the WDC this year, this really is a disaster.

I watched the video.

I thought it was European standard to have barrier ends sent down into the ground? There are none over here in Ireland even on back roads that are exposed like this. It's like having massive knives at the side of the road waiting for you to drive into them!?

That was way too dangerous for an F1 driver to be competing in, period. The cliffs alone were scary enough. Renault seriously needs to tighten up their contractual agreements with drivers and keep the element of danger limited to Formula 1.

OMG! Did anyone catch the driver's breathing at the end of clip? The level of adrenaline in their system being in such a heightened state of perception has to take such a physical toll on them!

It's really difficult to say what was the cause, maybe just a slight putting a tire wrong that he then couldn't correct, this guy almost lost it at around the middle of the clip going very wide and having to really correct. What's the gap in time of release because going by the length of the video Kubica must have been driving the road at the same time and just had the accident a minute or so before the end of the clip.

Just insane to see racing is difficult enough in a track but in an uncontrolled environment like this takes a complete other level of focus.

I watched every rally last year in the WRC. There isn't a stage on the whole calendar that isn't hardcore. These guys like to do 90mph sideways beside trees and buildings.

That particular stage was tight though with exposed barriers, I'd actually say a full spec WRC car would be too dangerous for that stage.

the ones that go down into the ground can launch cars into the air, I'm seeing more and more around here with large square blocks on the ends, I presume with some sort of impact absorbsion as well as protection from the end of the rail. The ones in that vid just look like bare ends.

Nope, I'm surprised he was allowed to enter an event like that. I hope he makes it back to F1, a good guy and he's still to show his full potential.
