The thing I have about supporting Mclaren is that it is like being like a majority of Man United or Chelsea Fans.... They only support them because they are winning (I am not saying all of the fans before I get flamed)

Man Utd fans are the "Bandwagon" supporters, not Chelsea. I mean seriously Chelsea hasn't really won much when you compare them to the likes of "Scum Utd", liverpoof, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern München just to name a few. Even crappy Parma FC has won more than Chelsea in Europe. Having said that I hope Chelsea wins the Premier League. Stuff Bandwagon United and ARSEnal. Hahahaha

Now back to F1. I support Ferrari, Italy, Schumacher, Germany hahahaha I think you get my drift. Williams are ok as well so I am not by any means anti British. :-)

Yeah but the people who have recently become to suport Chelsea (I.e since they got money) are glory supporters.
The same goes for Man City.

Excuse me - but I've been a Man City fan for nearly 20 years, followed them as they were relegated down two divisions then fought their way back up to the top flight, and the VAST majority of Man City fans will have been fans for more than the past two years or so, so I don't think you could call many of them glory hunters. Extremely flawed logic there - the ONLY (literally only) reason you could justify the statement is because they've been able to afford some decent players in the last couple of seasons.

Ahhh, but did anyone actually ask you??

Nah being fair, I dont think people hate him, just annoyed he threw stuff away for williams

He threw away points in perhaps two races in 2009, whereas he also had 11 points finishes in the 17 races - 6 of which were top 5 finishes. That Williams (regardless what anybody else would care to argue) should only have been legitimately finishing 6th - 12th depending on the race at best behind the Brawn and Red Bull cars at all races, McLaren, Ferrari and Toyota Cars at some.

When you score 30+ points having 11 points finishes and your team-mate scores a big fat 0 - not really even threatening the points for the vast majority of the season I think fans of the team have a bit of a cheek to complain about the one driver that utterly dominated the other. I'm sorry, but I really can't see any argument the other way. Just my opinion of course, but I really can't see past it on this matter.

At this stage you simply can't lump Man City fans in with Chelsea fans - the argument simply isn't comparable except for the money. Man City have won nothing and still currently sit outside the top 4. Chelsea sit on top of the league and have won multiple trophies over the best part now of a decade. The two are simply not the same thing. In three - five years if Man City have actually won the league / cup / represented to a late stage in Europe then and only then can you make the comparison.

No need for the rather childish large bold font - it reads like a shouting match, I prefer to keep subjects like this to a reasonable debate...

Erm... there already is a football thread somewhere (that I deliberately don't read  ).

This thread is about who people are going to support in F1 - any chance we could drag it back on-topic??
#177303
I'll give it a try - Football support tends to be vastly different from f1. Most footie fans talk and jock about it with their mates.

In f1 the nature of one race in which all teams and cars compete means it tends to be much more about the spectacle rather than specifics (compared to football where several matches are played forcing you to choose one to watch)

Are you actually reading what I put.
The Man City fans that have gone there since the money came in are glory supporters, as Chelsea's were.
I aint saying you are, or my ex P.E teacher, but that some recent ones are.

And the bold was just for a laugh, but oh well...

why do you support Germany for AKR what link do you have with them?

For the Fatherland of course. LOL. Only joking of course. You like McLaren and not because of your part British ancestry so why can I not like German things. Besides I always have liked German things and it. Is comon for people of my hertiage to like both Italy and Germany. :-)

Apologies in that case if it seems like I over-reacted, but I have a better sense of humour than most I know, and it simply didn't read as something that was meant to be funny... but moving on....

I actually am going to find the 2010 season harder than any in my recent memory to outright support anybody, there are too many good combinations and drivers on the grid! :)
