Button will be guarenteed a pretty quick car with McLarens resources as we saw with thier comeback, but with such a good team mate he will have to race his socks of to avoid looking a bit of a slouch as we saw with Kovalainen at times. Hamilton for the 2010 title with McLaren constructors champs.

Mark Hughes discusses this in autosport. He says McLaren largely overlooked Jensons talents and momemnts of excellence(and he sites some of them) Ron apparantly having taken on Alonso and just lost kimi said the rest of the field left him somewhat underwhelemd. The analysis data that was used missed the fact that he was a potential championNow the fact cannot be denied. But now he is up against Hamilton and Hughes concludes

"Is Button good enough for that? At his best Button could go bat to bat with hamilton, yes. But....I would be concerned about how apparantly specific and narrow Button's requirements of a car's handling traits are to give him access to that best- and about how hamilton can apparantly improvise his way around anything."

I agree with Hughes' analysis.

Rather it be Kimi, but the whole of the UK is going to be 100% McLaren.
All McLaren caps, all same colours.
Shame about Kimi going.

That's a bit of a generalisation - I live in the UK but I don't support McLaren, Button or Hamilton. So there'll be at least one non-McLaren cap in the crowd :D I'll have my Red Bull flag too, so hopefully I'll stand out :hehe:

I don't know that this is the best move for Button. McLaren is Hamilton's team, no doubts about it. Surely the car will be built up around Hamilton, and Button's just going to have to adapt to it - but Button seems to struggle when the car doesn't suit his style. If he can get the car working for him, though, it'll be an interesting battle :D
I'm looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, that's for sure!

I've just moved houses, well 3 weeks ago and I am not getting the internet until Thursday and I had NO IDEA that Jenson had moved to Mclaren- until Alex told me the other night.

Do not like Jenson, okay I am pleased that Heikki has gone as he was a real letdown, I had high hopes for him and it just didnt happen and I was sick of his race times- SLOW!

Hmm.. BBC Coverage is going to be great- TWO BRITISH TEAMMATES :yawn:can't wait

The recriminations have started http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/141 ... -slip-away

I thought that Button only wanted $8m? that's a big jump to $22.5m, I don't believe that any driver is worth $22m and certainly not Jenson, I rate him as a driver but I don't think he commands that sort of salary, maybe if he beats Hamilton and claims a second World Drivers Championship I'll reconsider that, he won this year because of Brawn's dominance in the first half of the season, would he still have won if McLaren and Ferrari were on the pace out of the box?
