to add to the playground,

id say alonso is far more consistant/reliable

where as lewis is more all or nothing [obviously not all OR nothing, but more so than alonso]

alonso drives more with the head and lewis the heart? fair?

i do think this wouldve been the best move for button IF merc hadntve bought brawn, now not so sure, think lewis will be dominant, for the foreseeable future.

My teams better than your team, my drivers better than yours, jeez this place is like a bloody kids playground sometimes

And of course you're squeaky clean of such childish attitudes.

Keep it clean; we've had enough petty squabbles thank you very much!

British Press are reporting that JB will sign a 3 year, £18 million deal with McLaren by the end of this week. Seems to be a done deal. Looks like the British Dream Team is a reality.

looks like the number 1 could well be back on the mclaren again next year though I still think Kimi would be the better option.

That will be awesome, British team, and TWO BRITISH CHAMPIONS!

Mclaren - JB, LH
Ferrari - FA, FM
Redbull - SV, MW
Brawn - NR, ?

Mclaren's fight with Ferrari will certainly light up sparks....that is of course, when SV was too fast in qualifying and just stormed away after the start of the GP :)

Heidfeld. Rosberg has already been tipped as No.1

Maybe Schumacher ;)

Well Schui was orginaly going to drive for the silver arrows project of the 90's (which was canned in favour of the Mclaren deal)

Edit:

Schumacher to quit Ferrari F1 role for Mercedes drive?

Tue, 17 Nov 12:00:19 2009

According to reports in the media, Michael Schumacher’s recently-renewed contract with Ferrari may not include any F1 duties – leading to wild speculation that the legendary record-breaking multiple world champion could be the ‘surprise’ to whom Norbert Haug refers in the new Mercedes Grand Prix driver line-up.

Spanish newspaper Diario AS claims that the new deal Schumacher inked with Ferrari back in September – due to run until the end of 2012 – will focus primarily on the Scuderia’s road car development, with the German relinquishing his advisory role on the F1 side.

That, allied to Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Vice-President Haug’s enigmatic declaration that there could be some ‘surprises’ in the driver line-up of the newly-rebranded Mercedes Grand Prix outfit in 2010 – what was in 2009 Brawn GP – has prompted some to wonder whether Schumacher could be the mystery driver to join ex-Williams F1 ace Nico Rosberg in an all-German, Silver Arrows ‘super team’ next year.

Though now into his fifth decade and with nothing left to prove, the man from Kerpen has repeatedly admitted that his test outing ahead of his ultimately abortive comeback in-place of the injured Felipe Massa earlier in the summer has whetted his appetite for a return to active competition after three years out of the cockpit.

With Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo’s desire for third cars to be legalised in 2010 looking unlikely in the extreme – and with Schumacher having effectively sprung to prominence with Mercedes in sportscars back at the turn of the 1990s – is there time for one last chapter to be written in the incredible career of the seven-time F1 World Champion, with a return full circle from Maranello to Stuttgart for one final fling..?

Massive Rumour would be funny i'd feel sorry for nico.

i have to admit that i will have a sense of satisfaction when all of those people that jumped on the button/brawn bandwagon and bought hats and all of that will be coming back to the mclaren cause. but at the same time as much as i don't think button would be fast enough in a mclaren it would be nice to have both british champions in the same car. probably will happen so you may as well get used to it. the brawn vs mclaren fan arguments days are numbered. we are going to have to learn to get along! :)

He is english atm. He just won.
I bet Lewis will be English if he can beat JB.
Well I suppose if this deal goes through, McLaren will be like a monopoly to the British fans.
All the colours, all the jackets, all the merchandice in the UK will be McLaren's.
