He used the run off to gain an unfair advantage JUST as he did at Spa in 08. So i guess its ok for Kimi to do that, infact he would not have won the race if he did not gain so many positions unfairly there!

I think I'll take DC's word over yours:

DC was asked on the BBC forum after the Singapore GP if Webber should have been penalised for driving off the track when fighting with Alonso.
DC said the white line defines the track if you drive over the line you should be penalised. He never said that about Rakkonen in the Belgium GP.In other words don't listen to DC he is as inconsistent as the race strewards.

If there's an advantage gained, I agree they should be penalised.

EJ made a more interesting point, forget the white lines, let drivers use all of the race track. It can only encourage more overtaking and it can't be unfair if drivers know it's permitted.

The alternative would be to barrier everything off track, just like in Monaco. It should definitely do one of the two - as it stands there's no overtaking and too many second chances for drivers who go off.

You're right he would of allready had the penalty :hehe:

I didn't think it was worth a penalty for the record

Kimi has been doing the spa thing for ages. I think because its a longer way around - irrespective of the fact that he gets better traction around there - but 9 pages on some insignificant issue because of what really..

Well I suppose the difference in Singapore was they were speciflly told not too, in spa I believe jenson did it as well and I think it was more something that was known to be allowed, also he could argue that he was keeping out of the way.

Because you drive within the white lines they are the rules.

and if you gain an advantage from going over the while lines you must give the place back.

Lewis did this, gave the place back and then got a 25sec penalty for it.

If we were to stick to the letter of the rules, even putting a wheel over the white lines is breaking the rules. I guess we're fortunate that, in that respect at least, some common sense is applied and each tiny offence isn't punished.

well longbow - just to be fair. i think lewis should be allowed a 25 sec advantage for the rest of this seasons races to make up for it. I mean the fia really is against him.

Ugh..not going over this again, but if you can't see if Kimi gained an advantage by driving around all the other cars.

Then fine but in my opinion he did.

Why are you people so focused on what Kimi did that day and completely forget that other drivers did the exact same thing too? Why only bitching about Kimi and Ferrari?
I mean, I know certain people are always going to bitch but lets have some consistency shall we.
