If Nico can even sneak a win or two like Alonso did last year, it would be perfect timing.

For who though? I'd love to think it'd mean he stayed at Williams a while longer, this season he's truly shown his potential imo.

Nico has been pretty awesome this season. Williams might not have the budget to sustain this development into 2010 and this is what worries me.

Heart or head for Rosberg?

With costs hopefully coming down now, budget shouldn't be so much of a problem for Williams. Sir Frank is a shrewd business-man and is always able to find money from somewhere.

Hopefully if Nico does win races this year it'll be at the point he still hasn't decided who to drive for in 2010 yet, which then afterwards should leave him with just one option.

If Nico goes to McLaren and gets the Heikki treatment it will serve him right, at McLaren you will never get equal status whilst Captain Lewis the Invincible is with them.

I agree, I hope he sticks with Williams.

What about the argument that some F1 journos have raised, that if Alonso had been in the Williams they would have achieved alot more this season?

I hate pay drivers...

What about the decent ones?

They're all right, but I hate ride buyers, especially if they dont prove themselves. I dont mind ride buyers in other series' as much, but ride buyers in F1 are ridiculous. F1 should have the best drivers in the world, not the richest. Thats why I have a hard time liking guys like Nakajima, Piquet Jnr, and Algy. Rosberg is alright...

What about the argument that some F1 journos have muted, that if Alonso had been in the Williams they would have achieved alot more this season?

Alonso would be a great asset to Williams, we all know about the myth that is Alonso's "6 tenths of a second" that he can bring to the car, he could have turned it into a Brawn and Red Bull beater immediately.

Nico is a smart guy and is getting the hang of development work (and in a way Kazuki is too), but to get back to the top, Patrick Head is crying out for an experienced driver to help develop the car even further. This is where Wurz was instrumental in 2007 where Williams' FW29 was a solid car.

So then, a Hulk/Rosberg lineup wouldn't be so good?

Hulk's doing well in GP2, but Patrick Head has warned that Hulk won't be the highest on the shopping list, particularly after he beached both the FW30 and FW31 during their launch shake-down tests.

Shake down, and he put it in gravel.
picks his moments, if he is like Piquet he will have plenty of time to do that when he is in F1.

Wendlinger was very highly rated before he came into F1. In the Mercedes sportscar programme with Michael Schumacher and Heinz Harold Frentzen, he was thought to be the fastest of the three. I always thought Diniz was ok too

Is Buemi not a pay driver?! i always assumed he was because he is a wealthy fellow, was nothing special in GP2 and now randomly has a race seat when they were looking for a pay driver

I haven't seen anywhere, has Romain Grosjean been confirmed as Piquet's replacement yet? I've shoved him in the GPWRC table as the new driver, but I don't want to upload it and then have to go back and change it for some other guy.

Also, as to Piquet...Good riddance I guess. I ran out of what little patience I had for him after his outburst against Buemi in Monaco.

DD are you saying that Piquet Jr is suffering from depression? Because I think that's grossly understating his mental deficiencies.

I can see my joke was packed neatly in a suitcase and loaded into the belly of a Delta 747 which was subsequently flown directly over your head.
The Heikki link was for a depression treating Dr. in case you didn't click it, and that's why I thought DD was recommending it(Heikki treatment) for Piquet Jr.
