Rubbish, a team as big as Mclaren should have had their eye on the ball and listened to Ross about the loop-hole in the difusers situation. Please don't lecture me about being unfair on McLaren, they fooked up, and they know it, hence all the poxy mini-updates they keep flying in

Even McLaren have only finite resources and they put nearly all of it into the 08 season. The 09 car was seriously under developed because of the lack of resources and even if they spotted the loophole I doubt they would of used it in fear that they were exploiting their position in the OWG.
[EDIT] oh and those 'poxy mini-updates' produced 2 seconds of lap time in 8 weeks I don't think that's to bad.

They didn't "fook up", they opted to focus on 2008. It's not like they suddenly became idiots. Designing F1 cars is very complicated. My team designed two duff ones in a row, off the back of a car which wound up pretty damn quick. I still wouldn't say they needed their arses kicked for it.

Brawn did not simply come out and tell everyone that there was a loophole regarding diffusers. He said that there are a number of loopholes but didn't really elaborate. The teams chose to ignore this because they assumed that they had already discovered the loopholes he was on about (there are loads in the current regs apparently) and assumed that they had come up with the most rule bendery car around. In fact it was an entirely new loophole that hardly anyone had noticed but no one knew that at that point.

No, actually, what happened was...

Ross says: There are a bunch of loopholes in these. Around the back, as well as with regards to the winglet bans. We should close them. All in favour?

All bar Renault and BMW: Aye.

BMW and Renault: Nay.

Unanimous vote was needed, motion failed.

Yes well what I was getting at was that Ross didn't give any specific details as to the nature of the type of device the loopholes may permit, leading the teams that opposed the closing of the loopholes to believe that whatever it was, they had already sussed it out and would gain an advantage from it come the start of the season. As it turns out, whatever loophole they thought he was on about turned out to be of little significance in comparison with the diffuser loophole

My pre-quali prediction agree's with you as I think either Jens or Rubens will walk it strictly due to their superior mechanical grip and treatment of the tires. I wont be dissatisfied if they do not win though, it will be a very exciting race and possibly the best of the season so far.

Monaco is a procession each and every year. Jenson gets pole. Jenson leads the teams round for 76 laps knowing he cannot be overtaken. Jenson wins the race. How will this be exciting?

As much as I like Jenson this season is in danger of becoming as boring as 2004 watching Schumacher win every race. So in the interests of an interesting F1 season I hope anyone else wins

I didn't mind it back then with MS and I don't mind it now: I like to watch history unfold and brilliance to shine. And every time SV steals one without the super diffuser mounted on the RB, I thoroughly enjoy the occasion :cloud9::clap::P

No, Trulli for the win! i think this time it will be between the 2 most experienced drivers on the track. If I'm not mistaken Barrichello and Trulli?

Actually, I think Giancarlo has a year on Jarno.

Ah do people remmeber the days when F1 Journalists all over the world believed that Giancarlo Fisichella was the best driver on the grid bar Schumacher. Monaco 1997 was one of the examples they used :P

Yup, I was a huge supporter of Ralf back in his BMW days and the Irish commentators on Setanta Sport never ever would shut up about Fisi and how he should be where Ralf was in the BMW winning races as he was a whisker faster than Ralf in their Jordan days in 1997. I never saw in Fisi what others did.

Well Fisi got his chance at Renault and got humiliated by a proper driver. He looks good in slow cars but give him a winning car and he cant produce the goods.

Nice one. very true. If truili grabs pole he could control the race, and we know exactly how possible that is. Don't forget the pace Toyota showed at Bahrain. They still have a race winning car.

What interests me about this weekend. Is that every team knows exactly how impossible it is to overtake. They all know how important pole position is. So surely plenty of drivers will be 3 stopping. Will some 2 stop. How light can they push the cars. It'll be a battle of strategies this weekend.
