im going to pass ultimate judgement on whether he really is wanting to leave or if its just media BS. But it really annoys me if it is true. Like Bill has said he has only had 2 races in a car that cant fight for wins and he is wanting an out clause. Even if the liegate had happened and he was in a McLaren that was the pace setter would there be even a hint of talk of leaving the team? i dont think so.
If he does leave i would have no respect for him what so ever. and i would hope he rots his way into oblivion! not sure about a crooner like Jaques but he likes his hip hop homeboy s***! maybe he can become a rapper! P diddy ft L Hammy

I agree completely. Well, almost completely. I don't like the smell of rotting flesh...

Hahah Lewis would be amazing as a rap star.

Oh come on now we think he's going into music?

Why doesn't he just start wearing his overalls baggy as hell, having his suspension as stiff as a skateboard and don some nerdy glasses while he's at it? Perhaps he can even dye his hair a mis-guided colour like white-blonde?

So you aren't down with Ham and MC Ant?

I'm merely saying that if he does launch a rap career, we might as well start calling him Jacques.

Although Mclaren have given him a competitive car in 2007 and 2008, their situation with the Stewards and Fia have left alot to be desired. For everyone that thinks Hamilton is to blame for lie-gate you only have to go back to 2007 to realize it's not the first time that Mclaren asked it's drivers to lie about rules and regulations to the governing body. IMHO I don't think Hamilton wants to leave as much as he wants Mclaren to clean up their act with the Stewards and FIA. It's hard enough to become the WDC against so many other talented drivers, but having to win against the Stewards and FIA, make his job even harder. For all the Hamilton Haters, you wanted to see what he could do in an uncompetetive car and (team management aside) He's done pretty damn well this year, much better than his team mate and much better than the 2 Ferrari drivers who have a much better car this year. So now that he's proved you wrong again, you all jump on the bandwagon that Mclaren Management had nothing to do with his lies to the Stewards.
Of course for all the Hammy Haters you will continue to hate him no matter what he does, You're in denial that he's a fantastic driver which to me is more important in an F1 driver than anything that happens off of the race course, But you would rather judge him by what the press says about him when he's off the race track.

An odd post. I don't think anybody is disputing McLaren have got things badly wrong, but Hamilton is an employee of McLaren, so he should not be absolved of blame of have his levels of blame reduced. For me, it's not so much that Hamilton was involved - this kind of thing has been going on since day one in Formula One - but that his levels of responsibility have been thoroughly dumbed down. Hamilton's "apology" was worthless, because he apologised for being mislead, which is not the same as apologising for doing wrong. And, as has been said, even if Hamilton was mislead by Ryan, it changes nothing: Hamilton was still complicit in what went on the stewards' office.

I'm not saying he isn't partly to blame, but it's not the first time that Mclaren has put it's driver's in a bad position with the FIA in the last few years and have asked their drivers to lie (Alonso/Spygate). I think Hamilton's statement to the press about possibly leaving the team has more to do with the way Mclaren handles the Rules,Stewards and FIA, than it has to do with his underperforming car. I'm sure Lewis and his Father both realize what Lie-Gate has done to his fans, you don't have to go far just read through the forums here. He was wrong to lie there's no doubt about it, But I believe his team pushed him into it and that is the main reason he's not happy with them. He had a fantastic drive in Australia and it was ruined be Mclaren's ineptness to interpret the rules and deal with the Stewards. (sounds Like Spa 08)

I'm not certain what you mean about McLaren asking its drivers to lie in the spying scandal. It was initially unknown just how much Alonso and de la Rosa were embroiled in the scandal. When their involvement was plain, Dennis contacted the FIA, and the rest is history. I also don't fully understand what you mean by saying McLaren have been unable to interpret the regulations etc. This is the first time that I can recall when McLaren have got it wrong. McLaren's relationship is less to do with their incompetence, but the FIA's long-standing dislike of McLaren.

i just dont get how anyone can just take away any responsibility from Hamilton. He knew exactly what would happen with what he told the stewards. :irked:

I'm not saying you can, and he was rightfully punished for it. What I am saying (the Topic of this tread) is that I believe the reason behind the Hamiltons statement that they may consider leaving Mclaren is that they are tired of the way Mclaren deals with the Rules,Stewards, and FIA. It's now gone beyond costing him championship points (SPA 08, Australia 09) It's now ruining his already questionable image.

Spa last year was nothing to do with McLaren.

That punishment is nowhere near severe enough. Dave Ryan lost is livelihood over this, Lewis lost a few measly points.

Whilst it's rare that the two of us agree on McLaren-related matters, I do agree with you here. There's no way he's any less than 50% responsible for this whole affair.
